Bet On LeBron James’ Second Decision, Is LeBron Retiring?
  • LeBron James teased a “Second Decision” announcement on Monday.
  • There are +155 odds that LeBron James will announce his retirement.

LOS ANGELESLeBron James has sent NBA fans into a frenzy on social media on Monday with the announcement on his X (formerly known as Twitter) that he will be announcing “The Second Decision” at noon eastern time on Tuesday.

Those unfamiliar with the first decision, it came when James had a live airing of his decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and join the Miami Heat for the 2010-2011 season.

With his announcement, not only are NBA fans trying to unlock this cryptic message, but legal sports betting sites are now offering odds on what “The Second Decision” will actually be.

What Will Be The Second Decision?

  • Retirement from the NBA +155
  • Final season declaration +225
  • New endorsement or personal brand venture +300
  • Leaving the Lakers +600
  • Confirms involvement in an ownership group for an NBA expansion team +900
  • Launch of a docuseries, film, or media event +900
  • Global basketball initiative +1400
  • Political or social leadership announcement +2200

Is LeBron Retiring?

It makes sense that the two options with the shortest odds on NBA betting sites are for James to announce either that he’s retiring or declaring that this will be his final season.

Something to consider, though, is that James has made it very clear that he would want a retirement tour for his final season in the league. NBA insider, Chris Fedor, stated back in July 2025 that people within LeBron’s circle have all but confirmed a retirement tour, thus ruling out an abrupt retirement, which is currently the outright favorite to be the decision.

“The one thing that I will say is that he is going — I believe, based on everything that I know about LeBron and all the conversations that I’ve had with people in his orbit, his general orbit — I believe that LeBron is going to make it known that he is going to retire before he retires,” Fedor said. “It’s not going to be a situation where he plays out the final year, and then in the offseason, he just retires.

“The sense that I get is LeBron wants it all. He wants the farewell tour. He wants all of these different franchises reliving all of his moments against them. He wants all of the glitz and the glam that comes with one of the greatest players, if not the greatest player of all time, calling it quits, eventually.”

The Second Decision & Prime Day Coincidence

The +300 odds for him to announce a new endorsement or personal brand venture are also enticing, as it just so happens that his second decision coincides with Amazon Prime Day.

LeBron has a long history of endorsement deals with Amazon, including his “Mind The Game” podcast, which streams on their platforms, as well as his involvement in campaigning for Prime Day specifically.

Enticing Global Basketball Initiative Odds

At +1400 odds, it’s worth a flyer on James to announce he is a part of some sort of Global Basketball Initiative.

The kicker here is that in a recent Instagram post, James was seen with his right hand man and business partner, Maverick Carter, and Miško Ražnatović, the agent of Nikola Jokic.

The meeting came as Carter and Ražnatović have been linked together about starting a new international basketball league.

What Lebron James Bets To Fade

Stand clear of the odds on LeBron to announce that he’s leaving the Lakers. At the time of his first decision, when he announced that he was leaving Cleveland, he faced tons of backlash for doing it so publicly. Fast track to when he left Miami to return to Cleveland, and when he signed with the Lakers, no public announcement was made, and the NBA beat writers made the announcements.

Also, he has expressed time and time again that playing with his son was always a dream in his career. With Bronny James on the Lakers, it’s hard to see him jumping ship this way.

Continuing down the board, James will not be announcing any ownership stake in an NBA expansion team, as no current players are allowed to partake in owning an existing NBA team.

As for the announcement of a new media event, James has done cameos and even was the main character in Space James two. He has never gone extremely public about any media venture.

Lastly, do not waste time or money on James to take any political stance here. He openly talks about politics on his social media already, so he has no reason to make a decision on his stance.
