- Ocelli +700
- Napoleon Solo +1100
There’s a four-way tie for the shortest odds at legal sports betting sites just one day before the race with a major shift from just a few days ago.
Crude Velocity was expected to be the favorite for the race, but was scratched on May 8 to focus on more races later in the summer. Then, new favorite Silent Tactic was pulled from the race due to a bruised front left foot, which also kept him out of the Kentucky Derby.
Golden Tempo, the winner of this year’s Kentucky Derby, is also sitting the race out, leaving a wide-open field for a new contender to shine through.
Who Has The Edge?
Taj Mahal is a local product and has experience on this very track, winning all three of his races at Laurel Park. His trainer, Brittany Russell, did acknowledge that drawing the first post was not ideal, but should not be too much of a hindrance.
Incredibolt was not included in the odds originally because it was unconfirmed whether or not he would compete, but he entered with strong +500 odds with jockey Jaime Torres, who won the Preakness in 2024.
Jose Ortiz will jockey Chip Honcho, fresh off a victory jockeying Golden Tempo in the Kentucky Derby. The horse should be fresh after skipping the Derby and is looking for his first win since the Gun Runner Stakes in December of 2025.
Iron Honor is the biggest riser in odds since the departure of Crude Velocity, going from +900 all the way to +500 coming into the race. He had a disappointing finish at the Wood Memorial with a seventh-place finish, but is looking for a major bounce-back on the big stage.
