ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – New Jersey sports betting revenue reached $97 million in July, up 29.7% from $74.8 million a year earlier, the Division of Gaming Enforcement’s July revenue report shows.
A Higher Hold On A Bigger Handle
The division’s July report, posted Aug. 14, rounds the month to $97 million. The statistics package behind it records the exact figure, $96,957,749, and shows where it came from: bettors put $816.9 million on events that settled in July, up 23.6% from a year earlier, and sportsbooks won $101.8 million of it, a 12.5% win rate against 10.8% in July 2025.
Parlays Carried The Month
Multi-leg tickets accounted for $261.1 million of the handle and $49.8 million of the win, a 19.1% hold that produced nearly half of everything the books kept. Baseball, the month’s biggest single-sport market at $179.5 million in wagers, returned $11.8 million at a 6.6% hold. A dollar bet on a straight baseball market cost its bettor roughly a third of what the same dollar cost at the parlay counter.
The report’s Other category, the catch-all for events outside football, basketball and baseball, grew 60.2% in handle to $309.2 million and 150.1% in win to $37 million. The division does not break that category down by sport, but the month contained the World Cup’s final rounds, and the final itself was played July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
Online Books Did Almost All The Winning
Online sportsbooks produced $94.7 million of the month’s revenue, up 25.5%, while the state’s retail sportsbook lounges added $2.3 million after losing $680,018 in July 2025. FanDuel, operating through Meadowlands, led the online market at $32.8 million, up 22%, and DraftKings, through Resorts, won $25.7 million, up 21.8%. BetFanatics won $10.6 million, BetMGM $8.8 million, and Bet365 grew 75.5% to $7.7 million, the fastest rise among the larger books offering New Jersey sports betting.
A Strong Month In A Down Year
July’s jump did not close the year’s gap. Sports wagering revenue through July stands at $609.9 million, 2.7% behind the $626.8 million booked over the same stretch of 2025, on completed-events handle that is down 3.6% at $6.48 billion.
The month follows the June report, when New Jersey betting revenue fell 38% as handle climbed, and July reversed both halves of that equation at once. The pattern across legal sports betting states this year has run the same way, with hold, not handle, deciding the revenue line.
Sports wagering generated $20 million in state taxes for July and $127.3 million year-to-date. The wider report put total gaming revenue at $678.1 million, up 11.9%, with internet gaming win up 12% to $276.9 million. The division posts August figures in mid-September.
