College Football Playoff Odds Favor Alabama To Get In Over SC
  • The Alabama Crimson Tide are favored to make the 2024 College Football Playoffs and South Carolina is heavily favored to miss out.
  • The odds for both the Tide and the Gamecocks vary at different sportsbooks, making line shopping import for CFP betting in 2024.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The second to last College Football Playoff rankings come out tonight and there are a few teams who are trying to sneak into the tournament. With neither Alabama nor South Carolina making it to the SEC Title game, their fates are in the hands of the committee.

After the final week of the college football season, Alabama is favored to be selected for the 12-team playoff and South Carolina is favored at legal sports betting sites to miss out.

South Carolina’s road win against number 15 Clemson at Memorial Stadium last week was impressive but most likely not enough for the committee to rank the Gamecocks over the Alabama Crimson Tide. Even though they both now have the same regular season and conference record, Alabama did get the win over South Carolina early in the regular season.

There are already three SEC teams expected to be locked in the 12-team playoff (Texas, Georgia, Tennessee) and it feels unlikely that both Alabama and South Carolina would be invited. As the CFP Committee showed last year, they value Alabama being in the playoffs.

In 2023, the Tide had a 29% chance of getting in after rivalry weekend but was selected at number four over the FSU Seminoles who had a 71% chance to make it that same week.
