Breaking Down The Odds For CFP Saturday Slate
  • Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Oregon are each home favorites in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
  • This is the first year where teams get a game at their home stadium for the first round of the playoff.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The 2025 College Football Playoff begins this weekend, featuring three matchups this Saturday, December 20th, beginning with the Miami Hurricanes facing the Texas A&M Aggies.

#10 Miami vs #7 Texas A&M Game Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Miami +3.0 (EVEN) +135 O 47.5 (-110)
Texas A&M -3.0 (-120) -160 U 47.5 (-110)

Legal sports betting sites list the Aggies as three point favorites at home over the Hurricanes.

Texas A&M went a perfect 7-0 at home during the regular season, while Miami finished with a 3-1 record on the road.

Both teams have had questions about their resume, each only defeating one team who finished the season ranked in the top 25 of the College Football Playoff Rankings.

The Aggies finished 15th in yards per play and 34th in opponent yards per play, while the Hurricanes finished 27th in yards per play and 8th in opponent yards per play.

It’s a strength on strength matchup, Texas A&M’s offense vs Miami’s defense, but bettors should lean towards the home team in the first weekend of playoff games at home stadiums for this one.

#11 Tulane vs #6 Ole Miss Game Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Tulane +17.5 (-115) +550 O 58.0 (-105)
Ole Miss -17.5 (-105) -850 U 58.0 (-115)

Ole Miss enters their game as 17.5 point favorites over AAC champions Tulane in Oxford this Saturday.

The Rebels will endure the notable loss of head coach Lane Kiffin to LSU, but should have their full arsenal of weapons at their disposal.

Their only loss this season came to Georgia on the road in a 43-35 shootout.

Tulane went 11-2 and defeated 24th ranked North Texas to secure a spot in the playoff. One of their two losses came to Ole Miss earlier in the season by a final score of 45-10.

The Green Wave ranked 26th in yards per play this season, but just 49th in opponent yards per play and more notably 86th in opponent yards per pass attempt, which will be a problem against the Rebels’ 9th best yards per pass play.

Expect Ole Miss to come out with a vengeance and a repeat performance of their first meeting.

#12 James Madison vs #5 Oregon Game Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
James Madison +20.5 (-105) +850 O 46.0 (-110)
Oregon -20.5 (-115) -1800 U 46.0 (-110)

Oregon opens as a 20.5 point favorite over James Madison, the largest line of any game on Saturday.

The Ducks went 11-1 during the regular season, narrowly missing the Big Ten championship after being beat out by undefeated Indiana and Ohio State.

James Madison went 12-1 to win the Sun Belt Conference, their only loss coming to Louisville early in the season.

The Dukes rank top 10 in yards per carry, opponent yards per carry, and opponent yards per pass attempt.

Unfortunately for them, Oregon ranks fifth in yards per carry, 14th in yards per pass attempt, 17th in opponent yards per carry, and first in opponent yards per pass.

While Oregon should have this one in the bag, bettors could look for James Madison to sneakily cover the spread at legal college football betting sites.
