Does St. Louis have a chance to steal another game on the road or was Game 1 just a fluke?
Pitching Matchup
The visiting Cardinals will have Miles Mikolas starting on the mound, while Los Angeles will start Emmet Sheehan.
Mikolas has been less than stellar this season and throughout the past few years, posting a 4.78 ERA or higher in each of the last three seasons. He has not had an ERA below 3.00 in any month this season, recording an ERA of 5.06 in the month of July.
To make matters worse, Mikolas is 1-4 in six starts against the Dodgers in his career with an ERA of 5.77, his only win coming back in 2019. He faced LA twice last season and gave up five runs while pitching no more than five innings in either game.
The good news for St. Louis is that Sheehan has not been all that great in his two healthy MLB seasons. After an 11 game campaign in 2023 with a 4.92 ERA, Sheehan had Tommy John surgery and returned to the lineup in June 2025.
He’s made six starts, none of which went past the fifth inning, and has an ERA of 3.60 thus far.
Home / Road Splits
St. Louis has been subpar on the road this season, going just 25-33 away from home. Meanwhile, the Dodgers have started the season with a 35-22 home record, one of the best in the MLB.
Los Angeles has averaged the most runs per game at home in the MLB this season, scoring 5.7 runs on average at Dodger Stadium.
The Cardinals average the tenth most runs per game at home, but drop all the way to 22nd in runs per game on the road, averaging just 4.19 runs per game.
Head To Head
This is the second series between these two teams this year, with St. Louis taking the first series two games to one.
The Dodgers have scored two or less runs in three of the four games thus far, but they have yet to face Mikolas, who has historically struggled against LA.
Bettors can expect a bounce back game from the NL West leading Dodgers tonight as they look to reclaim the top overall seed in the conference. Bet on Los Angeles to cover the spread with confidence at MLB betting sites.
