College Football Week 1 Betting Preview: Montana State Vs. Oregon - Dante Moore
  • Odds are favoring Oregon over Montana State with a 29.5-point spread.
  • Oregon had just a +13 margin against non-P4 schools last season.
  • Montana State went 15-1 last season, losing in the FCS Championship.

EUGENE, Ore. – The #7 Oregon Ducks will kick off their season against one of the premier teams in FCS, the Montana State Bobcats.

There is a massive 29.5-point spread set for this one on legal sports betting sites. However, before quickly jumping on Oregon, there is a strong case to make for Montana State to cover such a large number on the spread.

Montana State Vs. Oregon

  • Moneyline: Montana State (+1800) vs. Oregon
  • Spread: Oregon -29.5
  • Total: 56.5

Trust FCS Montana State To Cover +29.5

This is just too big of a number on college football betting sites considering how dominant Montana State has been, as well as the turnover that Oregon has had since last season.

Starting with Oregon, they’ve lost a ton of production from last season. With the departures of Tez Johnson, Traeshon Holden, and Terrance Ferguson in the receiving room, they’ve lost over 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns worth of offense. They are also turning to sophomore QB, Dante Moore, who is making his first start for the Ducks. There are also three new starters on the offensive line as well. With so many new faces starting, it could take some time to get used to playing with one another.

As for Montana State, they are an established powerhouse at the FCS level. They averaged a nationwide high of 40.8 ppg last season and were a top-15 defense as well, letting up just 18.2 ppg to opponents.

Strengthening the Bobcats to cover even more, Oregon played FCS Idaho in last season’s opener and only managed to win by 10 points. The following week, they won by just three points to Boise State, a non-P4 team.
