WASHINGTON – Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow again. The Washington Commanders quarterback went down on the last snap before halftime of a 37-20 loss at Dallas on Sunday, and while X-rays found no break, the team will not know how long he is out until further scans Monday.
A Second Trip To The Same Elbow
Third-and-goal from the 1 was the call, and Daniels lost his footing when left guard Chris Paul came down on his feet. He reached back with the left arm to break the fall and the elbow bent the wrong way on the final play before halftime. Commanders coach Dan Quinn said after the loss he still expects Daniels to play again this season. “I haven’t had any reason to think otherwise,” Quinn said, with Washington scheduling additional imaging for Monday to pin down how long that takes.
Mariota Steps Into The Lineup
Mariota finished 11 of 16 for 111 yards and a touchdown in relief and starts until Daniels is cleared to return, with Washington at 0-2 after the loss and Seattle already 2-0. Seattle was also the opponent when Daniels first popped this elbow out, in Week 9 last season. He sat four weeks, came back in Week 14 at Minnesota, hurt it again trying to tackle the defender who had picked him off, and did not take another snap that year.
