WR DeVonta Smith

  • 49ers CB Jason Verrett is out for the season after tearing his ACL last week.
  • CB Emmanuel Mosely is doubtful for today’s game Vs. San Francisco.
  • WR DeVonta Smith is (-115) to go OVER 50 yards on Sunday.

PHILADELPHIA– After a dominant offensive performance against the Atlanta Falcons, the Philadelphia Eagles return home to host the San Francisco 49ers this afternoon. They will look to carry last week’s momentum into today’s game against a 49ers defense that is depleted of several defensive backs.

A team that always seems to be plagued with injuries, the 49ers have already lost Raheem Mostert and Jason Verrett for the season. Verrett tore his ACL in last week’s game against Detroit and the Niners will surely miss his presence today in what looks to be a matchup against an explosive Eagles offense.

To make matters worse, defensive back Emmanuel Mosely is also doubtful for today’s game. This now puts coach Kyle Shannahan in a very dangerous situation, having to game plan for two dynamic playmakers in Jalen Reagor and DeVonta Smith. Shannahan will have to turn to veterans Dre Kirkpatrick and Josh Norman to help fill the void at defensive back. This looks to be a severe mismatch as both Kirkpatrick and Norman are both on the wrong side of 30 going up against two young, speedy wideouts.

Regulated sports betting outlets do not seem to be aware of these vital defensive injuries, as DeVonta Smith’s yardage prop total is set at a mere 50.5 yards today. Smith cleared 71 yards last week in his NFL debut, in a game that got out of hand towards the end. For this match having a close 3 point spread, it is reasonable to expect more passing volume for the Eagles here, boasting Smith’s chances of going OVER his yardage prop total that’s been set.

The game begins at 1:00 p.m. EST on the FOX Network.
