How Does Mitchell Robinson’s Injury Impact Knicks Odds?
  • Mitchell Robinson suffered a broken right pinky but has already undergone surgery that will likely allow him to play in Game 1 of the Finals on Wednesday.
  • The Knicks have +220 odds to win the Finals prior to the conclusion of the Western Conference Finals, but will likely be considered underdogs regardless of opponent.

NEW YORK – After clinching a spot in the NBA Finals, the Knicks received some unwanted news that Mitchell Robinson broke his right pinky finger and his status for the Finals is now up in the air.

However, Robinson has already undergone a surgical procedure on his finger and is expected to be active for Game 1 of the Finals on Wednesday.

Despite this, it remains to be seen whether or not Robinson will be limited in any capacity or what chance of reinjury is at play. He will be a key factor when facing either Victor Wembanyama or the combination of Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Jaylin Williams.

If Robinson is limited or re-aggravates his injury, the Knicks will have to turn to Ariel Hukporti for minutes as the backup center. The second-year big has played under ten minutes per game this postseason, mostly in garbage time.

Look Ahead At Finals Odds

The Knicks are still firmly behind the Thunder for best odds to win the Finals, with OKC sitting at +115 and New York at +220, while the Spurs have +250 odds to bring home the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

However, the Knicks would open as underdogs regardless of which team comes out of the West according to NBA betting sites, listing them as +185 underdogs against the Spurs and +215 against the Thunder.

New York went 0-2 against OKC during the regular season but took the season series 2-1 against the Spurs, including their victory in the NBA Cup Championship back in December.

Western Conference Finals Game 7 Odds

Spurs+3.5 (-110)+140O 213.0 (-110)
Thunder-3.5 (-110)-165U 213.0 (-110)

As prefaced by the outright championship odds, legal sports betting sites favor the Thunder to win Game 7 on their home floor and take on the Knicks in the Finals, becoming the first team to reach the Finals in consecutive seasons since the Warriors in 2019.

According to the odds, the Knicks should be pulling for the Spurs to pull off the upset, but injury concerns for both Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell could hinder the Thunder should they advance.

After losing Game 1 at home, the Thunder have responded with two dominant wins in Games 2 and 5, inspiring confidence that they can close out this series in front of their home fans.
