Hurricanes Home Favorites In Game 1 Against The Panthers

RALEIGH, N.C. – The first game of the Eastern Conference Finals in the NHL takes place Tuesday night as the Carolina Hurricanes host the Florida Panthers at 8 PM EST.

Each team beat the top seed in their division, the Panthers beating the Toronto Maple Leafs in seven games while the Hurricanes beat the Washington Capitals in five.

Legal sports betting sites list the Hurricanes as slight favorites in Game 1 at -128 odds.

The best bet is to roll with the Hurricanes to win Game 1 at home.

The Panthers won the season series 2-1, winning the only game in Carolina by a final score of 6-3 back in November.

However, Florida has been shaky on the road all season while Carolina has been dominant at home.

Carolina finished the regular season with a 31-9-1 home record, the third best in the NHL, while the Panthers went 20-19-2 on the road, just outside the bottom third of the league.

Florida has been much better on the road during the playoffs, going 5-2 away from home during the postseason, but the Hurricanes have continued their home dominance with a 5-0 record in Carolina during these playoffs.

Having only lost two games through the first two rounds, expect Carolina to start off hot against the defending champions.

Bet Bobrovsky Over 25.5 Saves

Sergei Bobrovsky has had some rough outings this postseason but has tightened up as it has gone on, allowing just four goals in his last four appearances.

NHL betting sites set his line at 25.5 saves for tonight’s game and give him -130 odds to exceed that number.

He only surpassed 25 saves in two of his seven games in the second round, but there were only three games in that series where the Maple Leafs attempted over 25 shots.

The Hurricanes have averaged 33.3 shots on goal per game so far this postseason, the second most of any team in the playoffs and the most of any team to advance past the first round.

If Bobrovsky can continue to defend the net at a high rate, Carolina should provide him with sufficient shot attempts to clear 25.5 saves.
