- Carolina will play at least four games without starting cornerbacks Mike Jackson and Jaycee Horn, who are on injured reserve.
- Detroit is a 3.5-point road favorite, -190 on the moneyline, with the total at 51.
- The desk backs Amon-Ra St. Brown’s Over 7.5 receptions at +115 and Jahmyr Gibbs’ Over 35.5 receiving yards at -110.
- Bryce Young has topped 249.5 passing yards in all three games, so the desk leaves his Under alone despite Detroit’s pass rush.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolina Panthers sent Mike Jackson and Jaycee Horn, their two starting cornerbacks, to injured reserve Wednesday, and Lions-Panthers SNF props target the Detroit Lions’ pass catchers on Sunday night at Bank of America Stadium.
Carolina Loses Its Top Two Corners
The Panthers announced the moves after both starters were hurt in last Sunday’s 21-18 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Horn has a torn quad and the team said he will not need surgery. Jackson had groin surgery Tuesday, and coach Dave Canales put the recovery for both at roughly eight weeks.
Jackson tied for the NFL lead with 19 passes defensed last season, when he picked off four passes and Horn five. Rookie Will Lee III, Akayleb Evans and Chau Smith-Wade now carry the position.
Evans allowed one catch for four yards on two targets in 16 coverage snaps Sunday, according to the team’s website, so the replacements are thin rather than hopeless. Carolina’s pass defense was only average with both starters, at 0.01 EPA allowed per pass play, so the drop starts from zero, not from a lockdown unit.
Detroit’s Receiving Lines Sit Unevenly Against Averages
Detroit (2-1) is a 3.5-point favorite at Carolina (1-2) on the Week 4 NFL betting board, -190 on the moneyline against +165 for the Panthers. The 51-point total splits to roughly 27 points for the Lions and 24 for Carolina, and Detroit’s offense has earned its share at 0.11 EPA per play with a 54% success rate, well above the 45% average. With that much scoring expected, the legal sports betting edge sits in who gets the volume.
No Detroit receiver or running back appears on the NFL’s injury report. Six Lions receiving lines sit against their 2026 averages below.

Williams carries the premium. His 51.5 line sits nine yards above his average, and he holds 31% of Detroit’s air yards on a 16% target share. But he has turned only 56% of those air yards into receiving yards and has no touchdown on 17 targets, so the matchup is already in the number. St. Brown’s and LaPorta’s yardage lines sit within two yards of their averages, which puts the edge in volume rather than yards.
St. Brown’s Volume And Gibbs’ Role Carry The Card
St. Brown has drawn 35 targets in three games, a 32% share, and caught 23 of them for 228 yards. His targets ran 14, 13 and 8, and he cleared 7.5 receptions in two of three games. The Over at +115 breaks even at 46.5%, and a secondary missing both starters raises the catch rate on a target count already near 12 a game. His five touchdowns on those 35 targets are the part that regresses, so the anytime touchdown at -125 is a pass.
Gibbs has 18 catches on 21 targets for 156 yards and two touchdowns, 52.0 receiving yards a game against a 35.5 line. He cleared that number in two of three games and cleared 4.5 receptions in all three. The yardage Over and the receptions Over at -130 are the same bet at different prices. The risk is linebacker Devin Lloyd (calf), a full participant Wednesday after missing Week 3.
Young’s Pressure Numbers Do Not Make The Under
Cleveland got pressure on 51% of Bryce Young’s dropbacks Sunday, by NFL Next Gen Stats’ count. Rookie right tackle Monroe Freeling was limited Thursday in the concussion protocol, and left guard Damien Lewis (elbow) is out. Detroit has 57 pressures, tied for second, and 12 sacks, second most, through three weeks, Next Gen Stats shows.
None of it has dented Young’s volume. He leads the NFL with 939 passing yards and went over 249.5 in all three games with 361, 287 and 291, while the Lions rank last in passing yards allowed at 299.3 a game.
The 249.5 line sits 63.5 yards below his 313-yard average, so it already discounts for receiver Xavier Legette (knee), who did not practice Thursday, and Jalen Coker (quad), who was limited. The Under needs the injuries and the rush to cost him more than that discount, and the desk passes.
Final designations for Coker, Freeling and Legette come on Friday’s injury report, and kickoff is 8:20 p.m. Eastern on NBC.
