ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Los Angeles Angels give away a Zach Neto bobblehead at Angel Stadium during Friday’s series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies, and Bovada prices the shortstop at +105 to record a single in his first career look at Phillies rookie Andrew Painter.
The Matchup
Reid Detmers starts for the Angels at Angel Stadium, and his numbers are the best on either side of Friday’s 9:38 p.m. ET first pitch. He carries a 3.62 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP and a .209 opponent average across 149 innings. Painter draws the ball for Philadelphia in his rookie season, 3-8 with a 6.04 ERA, a 1.48 WHIP and a .282 opponent average, though his fastball still averages 96.6 mph, according to Baseball Savant.
That pitching gap is why the Angels, at 52-82 and long out of any race, are only +116 underdogs against a Phillies club that has won 14 more games than it has lost.
