Connecticut Mobile Sportsbooks

  • DraftKings, FanDuel, and PlaySugarHouse all soft-launched online sports betting in Connecticut on Tuesday.
  • Only a handful of sports bettors can wager at this time, during specific time periods, which is what makes it a “soft launch”.
  • The official launch for the three mobile sportsbook platforms is set for October 19.

HARTFORD, Conn. – Connecticut sports bettors can now access online sportsbooks in a limited capacity thanks to the soft launch of three major mobile operations on Tuesday.

FanDuel, DraftKings, and PlaySugarHouse (powered by Rush Street Interactive and run by the Connecticut Lottery) are each allowing up to 750 registered users access to their sportsbook applications.

With this being a “soft launch”, odds are only available for a set amount of time. The official online sports betting market in Connecticut will go live statewide on October 19.

These three online operators can only be accessed at set times. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the sportsbooks are live between 3 PM and 11 PM EST. On Thursday and Friday, the sportsbooks will be live from 12 PM to 11:59 PM EST. And on Saturday, gamblers can access these mobile sportsbooks in a 24-hour capacity.

The soft launch is being used as a stress test for the mobile sportsbook platforms of the state to ensure everything is running smoothly come time for the official launch day.

“The Mohegan Tribe is thankful to Governor Lamont and the Department of Consumer Protection for their cooperative efforts to reach this point, as together we finally make online gaming and sport wagering a reality in Connecticut,” said James Gessner, chairman of the Mohegan Tribe. “Doing so will allow us to not only offer these new products to state residents, it will in turn help protect Connecticut jobs and generate additional tax revenues to the benefit of state and local municipal budgets, as well as our tribe’s members. We’re excited to take this step, and we look forward to a full launch in the days ahead.”

What The Official Launch Will Look Like

When sportsbooks go live statewide the 750-bettor cap will be lifted, as will the set times. Online sportsbooks will be accessible 24/7 by users anywhere in the state.

Connecticut sports betting already saw the launch of its retail operations at the Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun. DraftKings and FanDuel are the sports betting operations for these two locations. Ten of the 15 allotted RSI lottery sports betting locations will be opened soon to go along with their mobile app.

With both retail and mobile betting in full force, Connecticut will be one of the more open sports gaming markets in the US. The Connecticut sports betting industry is already off to a great start and the NFL season being in full force doesn’t hurt business either.
