TACOMA, Wash. – The Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma officially launched the largest sportsbook in the Northwestern United States – the BetMGM at Emerald Queen Casino Sportsbook Lounge – on Monday.
The grand opening of the sportsbook featured appearances by Washington sports betting legends such as Edgar Martinez, Sidney Rice, Lawyer Milloy, and Marshawn Lynch. The ceremonial first bet was placed at 1 p.m. EST Monday, signaling the official launch of the legal sports betting facility.
The new sportsbook features amenities including a centrally-located 500-foot television screen, several other 86-inch televisions, 70 luxury seating options, a full bar, and a sports betting ticker wall.
The Emerald Queen Casino has another upcoming launch it is looking forward to as well: on December 27, the Emerald Queen Casino in Fife will launch its sports betting kiosks. While this Emerald Queen Casino location will not feature a full-service, Vegas-style sportsbook as the Tacoma location, bettors will still be able to place wagers on the same events as they would at the full-service sportsbook in Tacoma.
Both locations permit wagers on any professional sporting event, as well as collegiate sporting events not featuring teams based in Washington, per HB 2638’s restrictions. This means that bettors will notably not be able to bet on the Washington Huskies or Washington State Cougars.
