Ketlen Vieira vs. Miesha Tate

  • Miesha Tate has (EVEN) odds as an underdog to Ketlen Vieira in the main event.
  • Sean Brady is a (-165) betting favorite over Michael Chiesa in the co-main.
  • Talia Santos has (-360) odds to beat Joanne Calderwood, but could be on upset alert.

LAS VEGAS – The weekend’s UFC event is a fight night headlined by Ketlen Vieira and Miesha Tate.

Miesha Tate is one of the legends of women’s MMA. She’s a former Strikeforce champion as well as UFC champion.

However, she left the UFC in 2016 and had a nearly five-year hiatus from fighting before returning in July of this year to beat Marion Reneau in her return. Legal online betting sites have her as the underdog in the main event on Saturday.

Tate vs Viera Moneyline Odds

  • Miesha Tate EVEN
  • Ketlen Viera -120

Ketlen Vieira has lost two of her last three fights after starting her professional career 10-0. She has some respectable wins over fighters such as Cat Zingano and Sijara Eubanks, but her recent form doesn’t justify her being the favorite.

Vieira has a negative striking differential as she lands just 2.66 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.84 per minute. Tate out-landed her opponent 65-25 in her turn and added three takedowns, seemingly not missing a beat in her time away from the sport.

Tate should be favored so getting her at (EVEN) odds seems to be a steal in the main event.

Sean Brady Vs. Michael Chiesa: The Co-Main Event

Michael Chiesa is one of the top submission specialists in the UFC. In his 16 fights and 11 wins in the UFC, he has six wins by submission.

He’s rarely finding himself on the feet as he lands just 1.87 and absorbs only 1.72 significant strikes per minute. He lands 3.62 takedowns per 15 minutes and likes to do most of his work on the ground.

Chiesa vs Brady Moneyline Odds

  • Michael Chiesa +135
  • Sean Brady -165

However, UFC betting sites have Chiesa listed as an underdog to the undefeated Sean Brady. With a 14-0 professional record, Brady has looked impressive, but this will be by far his biggest test yet.

He’s a well-rounded fighter who lands 1.12 more significant strikes per minute than his opponents, scores 2.69 takedowns per 15 minutes and has 100% takedown defense. Whether that takedown defense can stay at 100% is the key to the fight. On the feet, Brady is clearly the better striker. On the ground, Chiesa can lock in a submission at any time.

Joanne Calderwood Vs. Talia Santos

Talia Santos is one of the biggest favorites on the card, but Joanne Calderwood could very well have a chance as the underdog. Santos has an 18-1 record but has not fought nearly the level of competition that Calderwood has, thus why she has a 15-6 professional record.

Calderwood vs Santos Moneyline Odds

  • Joanne Calderwood +270
  • Talia Santos -360

Calderwood likely has the striking advantage as she lands an impressive 6.75 significant strikes per minute while only taking 4.50 per minute. Santos lands just 3.55 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 2.01.

Santos is the better grappler, landing 2.60 takedowns per 15 minutes in her UFC career on 86% accuracy. As is the case with so many UFC fights, whoever can keep the fight at their pace will win.

On the feet, Calderwood has the advantage while Santos would have an edge on the ground. Given the odds, Calderwood may be worth a play.

The main card will start at 6 p.m. EST on Saturday and can be streamed on ESPN+.
