Chestnut set the record for most tamales eaten in 10 minutes in September at the Padrino Foods World Tamale Eating Championship, where he totaled 96 eaten tamales. He broke the record by just one tamale after Geoffrey Esper ate 95. His performance also beat the second place finish by six servings.
Now that he’s set a new world record in 2025, there are already odds on legal sports betting sites on if he’ll set an even higher world record in 2026.
Will Joey Chestnut Break The Tamale Eating Record In 2026?
- Yes -150
Chestnut is no stranger to the tamale game at all, as he previously set the world record for tamales eaten in 12 minutes back in 2008 with 102.
He also had a productive 2025 when it came to breaking records with three additional records broken, including bologna slices, popcorn servings, and bagels with cream cheese eaten all in an eight minutes time frame.
In total, Chestnut holds a total of 55 eating world records, in which 39 of them were set in a 10 minute time frame, which is the time frame of the 2026 tamale eating contest.
