Yankees vs Braves Game Odds

Yankees -1.5 (+140) -112 O 8.5 (-105)
Braves +1.5 (-170) -108 U 8.5 (-115)

The Yankees come in as the favorites at legal sports betting sites giving one and a half runs to the Braves at +140 odds.

With the odds being as tight as they are, here are some key factors which could determine the outcome of tonight’s game.

Pitching Matchup

Max Fried is expected to start on the mound for the Yankees after dealing with a blister on his pitching hand for the past week. Though he did not participate in the All-Star game and there have been no definitive updates, he is likely to play through the injury.

Fried had been excellent up until the beginning of July, posting a record of 10-2 with a 1.92 ERA. He struggled in July however, allowing at least three earned runs in each of his three starts, none of which lasted longer than six innings, resulting in a 6.43 ERA so far this month.

On the other side, Spencer Strider will start for Atlanta and he has been much less effective than Fried with a record of 3-7 for the season and a 3.94 ERA. He has not single-handedly lost them games, however, with an ERA under 4.00 in the last two months.

New York should have a decided advantage on the mound should Fried be able to perform as well as he can, but it remains to be seen how the injury will affect him.

Hitting In July

The Yankees have had an offensive resurgence in July, posting their best batting average (.281), slugging percentage (.511), and OPS (.851) in any month thus far, granted they have played just 12 games.

Prior to the All-Star break, they were also on pace to hit about 50 home runs this month, slugging 23 home runs in that 12 game span (1.9 per game). Over that stretch, they scored 75 runs, or about 6.25 runs per game.

Atlanta did not come out hot to start the month, hitting just .238 with an on base percentage of .290 through 12 games, their worst of any month thus far. They scored 49 runs in that span, about 4.1 per game.

With the advantage on the mound as well as hitting trending in New York’s direction, it is easy to see why they are favored in this one. Bet on New York to win outright with -112 odds at MLB betting sites.
