- Cody Rhodes is favored to beat John Cena with -300 odds.
- John Cena has defended the WWE Championship twice since winning.
NEW YORK – The biggest WWE PLE of the summer, Summerslam, is set for both Saturday and Sunday for the first time in history. Highlighting the entire weekend is a main event between John Cena and Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship.
For this first time during John Cena’s Farewell Tour, he is going into a singles matchup on a WWE PLE as an underdog on legal sports betting sites.
WWE Championship Match: John Cena Vs. Cody Rhodes
- John Cena +200
- Cody Rhodes -300
Following the Elimination Chamber, he defeated Cody Rhodes to win the WWE Championship, defeated Randy Orton at Backlash to retain the title, beat R-Truth at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and beat CM Punk at Night of Champions to retain the championship as well. He was favored to win on WWE betting sites and won each match.
Will Cody Spoil Cena’s Farewell Tour?
Unfortunately for John Cena, aside from the odds, there are plenty of factors pointing in the direction of Cody Rhodes winning back the WWE Championship.
From a storyline standpoint, a win for Rhodes would set up a trilogy match for the WWE Championship later on during the Farewell Tour. Going even further, it would give Cena a chance to separate himself in the history books by making him an 18 time WWE Champion.
However, after the release of the WWE Unreal docuseries, it’s safe to say that nothing is set in stone and that anything can happen in the WWE storyline. That said, this could also be a chapter closing match between Cena and Rhodes, where a Cena win could move him on to his next rivalry on the Farewell Tour.
