- Three college football games take place on Friday with massive spreads in two of them.
- World Series Game 1 kicks off with Blake Snell on the mound.
- The NHL features a large underdog team (San Jose Sharks) who have trouble scoring goals.
- A nightcap of the Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz finish the 4-sport betting preview.
SACRAMENTO, Calif – While we’re an NFL game away from hitting a sports betting equinox on Friday, we replaced college football with the pro league to keep the same mindset.
No matter your sport, this betting preview has you covered.
College Football Betting
| Time | Matchup | Odds |
|---|---|---|
| 7 p.m. ET | North Texas (-26) vs Charlotte | Mean Green (-5000) vs 49ers (+1300) |
| 7:30 p.m. ET | California (+6) vs Virginia Tech | Golden Bears (+200) vs Hokies (-240) |
| 10 p.m. ET | Boise State (-21.5) vs Nevada | Broncos (-1900) vs Wolf Pack (+900) |
While legal college football betting sites list the Mean Green as the largest favorite of the day, parlaying them with the Broncos doesn’t do much to help (-1350 odds). With that, it may be better to focus on a total or spread bet.
- This is the largest spread for North Texas since 2018 (vs UTEP). The Mean Green are 0-4 against the spread in similar games, averaging 27.5 points.
- Since joining the ACC, all Cal games have hit the under (4-0) when they are on the road. The total for the Cal-Hokies game is 50.5 points.
- Boise State has won over 30 games as a road favorite of at least 18 points. However, they have failed to cover the spread in their last two (both in 2024).
Baseball Betting
Game 1 of the World Series takes place at 8 p.m. ET, where the Los Angeles Dodgers are -155 on the moneyline vs the Toronto Blue Jays. Taking place in Toronto, many legal sportsbooks in Canada are taking heavy action on the Blue Jays.
However, US betting sites, especially legal California sportsbooks, are seeing the opposite with a strong focus surrounding Shohei Ohtani player props.
- Ohtani odds to hit a homerun: +215
- Ohtani odds to record a run: -165
- Ohtani odds to record a single: +125
- Ohtani odds to record an RBI: +125
Others focus on the run line or moneyline, which comes with heavy data. However, no trends are present: 5-4 on the moneyline (in favor of the Dodgers) and 4-4-1 on the total since 2023.
One thing to focus on is the strikeouts total for Blake Snell at legal MLB sportsbooks. Starting against the Blue Jays in August, Snell held them to only no runs on 10 strikeouts through five innings.
Hockey Betting
At 7:08 p.m., the San Jose Sharks travel to New Jersey to take on the Devils. The Sharks are a massive underdog (+290 odds) but +120 on the puck line (+1.5).
San Jose was a +250 underdog or larger on the road 19 times last year. In those games, they went 2-17, losing the majority of them (13) with under 2.5 goals. While it may be expensive (-175 odds), taking the under on Sharks to score 2.5 goals could be a safe parlay addition.
Those looking for a single NHL bet to take, consider the Devils puck line, which hit in five of seven games last season as a big home favorite.
Basketball Betting
To end the night, the NBA features a chase game of the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings tipping off at 10 p.m. ET. The Kings are a five-point favorite and the over-under sits at 233 points.
But the main focus could be on NBA player props.
- Domantas Sabonis Over 12.5 rebounds -120
- Svi Mykhailiuk Over 1.5 3PM -115
Sabonis averaged 14 boards per game over the final 12 games, consistently beating the 12-mark. With plenty of games nearing 20 boards, this is a safe NBA bet throughout the entire season.
Knocking down 3 three pointers in the first game of the season, expect Mykhailiuk to stay hot. Mykhailiuk averaged five 3PA last season (38 games), making more than one in eight of nine straight games at one point.
