PA, NC, and PA Have Sports Betting Record Months
  • Pennsylvania set the state’s record with over $960 million wagered on sports in October.
  • Colorado set their record for the highest sports betting tax revenue in October with $4.8 million.
  • North Carolina set a third straight record with a $813,973,743 handle in November 2025.

PHILADELPHIAPennsylvania recorded its highest monthly sports betting handle to date in October at $968 million. September was not far behind with a handle of $850 million, as PA residents continue to increase their betting totals.

With $7.07 billion wagered through October, Pennsylvania is on pace to surpass its legal sports betting yearly handle record of $8.42 billion from 2024.

However, they might not pass the amount of revenue generated, thanks to the Eagles starting out 4-0 and the Steelers close behind at 3-1. Since January 2025, the hold percentage averaged 8.32% for legal Pennsylvania sportsbooks, but September saw a hold percentage at just 3.5%.

North Carolina Continues To Break Records

The sports betting handle in North Carolina also set a new record ($813,973,743 wagered). Hitting this mark on their November report, this is the third straight month they’ve broken a record.

While NC sportsbooks continue to win at a near 10% rate, it has helped the local government collect over $100 million in tax benefits from 2025 alone.

Colorado Betting Provides Boost For Colorado Water Plan Grant Program

Colorado sports betting has also seen an increase in sports betting figures, recording the highest tax revenue yet ($4.8 million) in October 2025. This amount almost doubles the tax revenue taken in from October 2024 and marks the fifth time the state has seen at least $4 million from sports betting in a single month.

Colorado monthly betting reports show that the majority of the $680 million October handle is coming from NFL betting (25.9%), with parlays accounting for more than a quarter as well (28.8%).

This is great news as all of the sports betting tax revenue goes directly to the Colorado Water Plan Grant Program. The board has now launched an online program that tracks where the funds are going.
