- The Seattle Seahawks are 7-point favorites over the Los Angeles Chargers after opening as low as 6.5, with the total at 42.5.
- Seattle outgained Washington 437-258 and lost 33-31 on three turnovers, yet it still lays a touchdown at home.
- Los Angeles has lost six straight, scoring 17 or fewer points each time, and is 0-3 against the spread this season.
- The total is down from an opening high of 43.5, and every Chargers game this season has ended with exactly 40 points.
SEATTLE – The Seattle Seahawks are 7-point favorites over the 0-3 Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, their first game since the Washington Commanders beat them 33-31 and stopped Seattle at 12 straight wins, a franchise record. The Seahawks Chargers odds carry a 42.5 total, and the spread opened as low as 6.5 on Sunday night.
A Loss Decided By Turnovers, Not Yardage
Sam Darnold finished with 379 passing yards and four touchdown passes, but all three Seattle turnovers became Commanders touchdowns, 20 points in all, including a 50-yard interception return with 3:57 left.
Seattle held a 437-258 yardage edge and 28 first downs to 17, the profile of a loss that turnovers caused. Turnovers are among the least repeatable numbers in football, so a market that has Seattle back at a touchdown is treating the defeat as noise.
Seattle has not lost at home since Oct. 5, 2025, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won 38-35 at Lumen Field, a day short of a full year before Sunday’s kickoff.
Los Angeles Moves The Ball And Cannot Finish
The Chargers lost 24-16 at the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 27 even though Buffalo gave the ball away five times. Six Los Angeles drives got inside Buffalo’s 30-yard line, and they produced three field goals and a single touchdown. Justin Herbert’s three-game line is a 59.1 percent completion rate and 627 yards, with more interceptions (four) than touchdowns (three), and the offense averages 14.7 points, 29th in the NFL.
Los Angeles was a home favorite of as much as 9.5 points in Week 1, a 6.5-point favorite in Week 2 and a 7-point underdog at Buffalo, and none of those numbers covered. The 0-3 start is the franchise’s first since 2017.
Take Seattle At 7, Not 7.5
| Market | Odds |
|---|---|
| Seahawks -7 | -115 |
| Chargers +7 | -105 |
| Seahawks moneyline | -340 |
| Chargers moneyline | +270 |
| Over 42.5 | -115 |
| Under 42.5 | -105 |
A touchdown and an extra point make a seven-point margin, so betting the spread at 7 versus 7.5 is a different bet. A seven-point Seattle win pushes at 7 and cashes for the Chargers at 7.5. Most of the market sits at 7.
The legal sports betting spread and total together price Seattle for about 24.75 points and Los Angeles for about 17.75. That is three points above the Chargers’ season average and more than they have scored in any of six straight losses, so the number already credits Los Angeles with a bigger game than any of its last six. Seattle at 7 is the side that holds up, and the Chargers become a play only at 7.5.
The Under Rides With A Seattle Cover
The total opened as high as 43.5 and has settled at 42.5. Seattle’s 25-point average plus the Chargers’ 14.7 comes to 39.7, short of that number, so the over needs Seattle to repeat the 31 points it scored in each of its last two games.
The likelier path to a Seattle cover is a score near 24-14, which also lands the under. An alternate total of 43 or 43.5 adds a half point or a full point of cushion to that side.
Kickoff is 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday at Lumen Field, one of three games in that slot on the NFL betting schedule.
