- Indiana’s sportsbooks saw their best month ever from a handle perspective during October, raking in $461.1 million in combined sports betting handle during the month.
- October’s sports betting handle broke the previous record, established just a month before in September, by nearly $105 million.
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s sports betting industry enjoyed its best month ever in terms of overall betting handle in October, according to figures released by the Indiana Gaming Commission on Friday.
The report listed a combined total handle for Indiana’s legal sports betting industry of $461.1 million in October, the first time the state broke the $400 million mark since launching in September 2019.
October’s handle surpassed Indiana’s previous record – set just a month prior in September – by nearly $105 million.
The handle equated to a total revenue of $27.7 million across all of the state’s sportsbooks; the state collected $2.6 million in taxes during the month. This is down $6 million from September despite the record handle.
The top-grossing land-based sportsbooks were located near the border of states without an existing land-based sports betting industry – Hollywood Lawrenceburg, the nearest sportsbook to Cincinnati, reported a handle of $15.6 million.
While the land-based sportsbooks of Indiana recorded solid months, online sportsbooks continued to dominate the Indiana sports betting scene. DraftKings Sportsbook continued its run as Indiana’s top online sportsbook by accumulating a $150.7 million online handle in October, the most of any of Indiana’s online sportsbooks.
FanDuel was not far behind in the handle department, breaking the $100 million mark for the first time as it racked up a $113.3 million online handle in October.
Despite FanDuel seeing almost $40 million less in handle than DraftKings, the former outpaced the latter when it came to revenue: FanDuel reported $9.6 million in revenue while DraftKings reported $7.8 million.
BetMGM ($47.7 million in handle) and Caesars Sportsbook ($40.3 million) rounded out the top four online operators during October in Indiana.
