Wide Open Field
As far as numbers go, this year’s College Baseball World Series is wide open despite what the odds say. There was a shakeup though towards the top of the odds board between Arkansas and LSU once the final field for Omaha was set.
Prior to advancing to the CWS bracket, both Arkansas and LSU were co-favorites to win the National Championship at +325 odds. The Razorbacks did slightly pull ahead once the field was set.
It’s not hard to see why the Razorbacks pulled ahead as contenders as they are arguably the most complete team going into Omaha. They rank in the top-20 in the country in home runs, batting average, and ERA.
LSU does have what it takes to make a run though as they rank the highest of all World Series teams at 11.9 strikeouts led by Kade Anderson. The only downfall for them right now is that they open in Omaha against Arkansas.
