MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama State Representative Phillip Ensler announced his campaign for Lieutenant Governor. In doing so, he listed off several “real problems” in his words, with one of them being the barrier ahead of sports betting and an Alabama State lottery.
Ensler emphasized coming together during his campaign speech, which he states working together with republicans as a democrat to bring both legal sports betting and a state lottery to the Cotton State.

“I hear from people all over the state—Democrat, Republican, white, black, poor, more affluent—that say it’s crazy that we don’t have a state lottery,” Ensler said. “People cross over state lines to buy lotto tickets, and we’re missing out on hundreds of millions o
f dollars that could be used for education or could be used for healthcare.”
Ensler emphasized that he would not be using his campaign to mainly push for Alabama sports betting and gambling, but more so using it to bring the two parties together and show that they can work side by side on issues at hand.
