Bally Sports - Cleveland Browns

  • Bally’s Interactive and the Cleveland Browns announced a sports betting partnership.
  • That is the second partnership between an online sportsbook and an Ohio professional sports franchise.

CLEVELAND – Bally’s Interactive and the Cleveland Browns just announced a partnership that will allow Bally’s to launch a sportsbook app in Ohio and sports betting lounge in the Browns stadium, FirstEnergy Stadium.

What Will The Partnership Mean?

While the announcement states there has yet to be location agreed upon for the lounge, that is most likely not the most important aspect of this announcement.

What Bally’s Interactive and the Browns partnership really means is that another legal online sportsbook in Ohio will launch once all the legislative issues get worked out.

This was a vital deal in order for Bally’s Interactive to launch their sportsbook in Ohio. In order for a sportsbook to launch in Ohio, it must partner with either a casino, racino, or sports entity.

Partnering with the Cleveland Browns means that Bally’s Interactive will be a legal sports betting option once Ohio launches.

History Of Similar Partnership In Ohio

House Bill 29 was signed into effect in December of 2021, but thus far Ohio legislators have taken their time creating the rules and legislation.

The legislators have been told they must have sports betting up by January 1st, 2023. With that deadline months away, online sportsbooks have taken their time when choosing the right brick-and-mortar partners.

The only other sportsbook to partner with a professional sports team in Ohio was Fubo Gaming, who announced they would partner with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Fubo partnership will be very similar to the Browns and Bally’s partnership in that the Cavaliers are a means of Fubo offering their sportsbook within Ohio.

Fubo gaming will also operate a 3,000 sq. ft. sports betting lounge inside the Cleveland Cavaliers arena, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
