DALLAS – 2025 NBA Tip-Off Week continues on Wednesday Night with a massive Lone Star State matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs, where Cooper Flagg and Victor Wembanyama will meet for the first time.
Just ahead of Wednesday Night’s game, legal sports betting are siding with Dallas at home in this one with a 3-point spread leaning their way. That could come mainly on the fact of the injuries that the Spurs are dealing with.

Injuries for the Spurs will certainly play a role in this one as De’Aaron Fox, Jeremy Sochan, and Lindy Waters will all be out while Kelly Olynyk is a gametime decision.
Something else to take into consideration here is the size advantage for the Mavs, with the exception of Wembanyama for the Spurs. Dallas is rolling out a lineup of Cooper Flagg, Anthony Davis, and Dereck Lively in the paint. All of which stand at 6’9 or higher.
This should come in handy on the glass, where the Spurs are already struggling, having let up the second most rebounds per game to opponents last year, which includes 12.1 offensive rebounds per game.

Starting with Cooper Flagg’s point total, while he does have the explosiveness to go well over this number, historically, number one draft picks have struggled in their debuts in recent seasons. Four of the last five number one picks have all stayed under 15.5 points. It also hurts his case that Anthony Davis is still the go to option for scoring.
As for Wemby’s combined point and rebound total, we’re leaning under here as well. The absence of Fox and Sochan could hurt him more than help him, being that he’ll be heavily draped the entire night, any time he steps foot inside the three point line. Feeding off of that, the size from AD, Lively, and Flagg will certainly play a role here as well.
