- The Ohio State Buckeyes are 24-point favorites to beat the Michigan State Spartans.
- A total of 18 teams ranked in the Top 25 will be in action this weekend.
LAS VEGAS — The college football season has continued its march forward despite a plethora of games being canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
While the pandemic has changed many parts of the season, college football betting enthusiasts have seen enough to know what teams are the pretenders and contenders.
Week 14 of the college football regular season is pivotal for some teams that want to position themselves for the College Football Playoff or their conference championship game. This makes this a prime week for betting opportunities and we’ve gathered the lines on five games this weekend featuring a ranked team.
No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan State Spartans Odds @ 12 p.m. EST
- Spread: Buckeyes -24
- Moneyline: Buckeyes (-2000) vs. Spartans (+950)
- O/U: 59.5
Best Bet: Michigan State Spartans ATS (+24). The Ohio State Buckeyes are 2-2 ATS this season and they likely won’t cover against the Michigan State Spartans as 24 points might be too wide of a margin.
The Buckeyes are 3-6 ATS in their last nine games overall and facing the Spartans who just upset a top 15 ranked Northwestern Wildcats team. Take the odds that Michigan State covers in this game as they’ve improved as the season has gone on.
No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies vs. Auburn Tigers Odds @ 12 p.m. EST
- Spread: Aggies (-6.5)
- Moneyline: Texas A&M (-240) vs. Tigers (+200)
- O/U: 48.5
Best Bet: Under 48.5 points. The Texas A&M Aggies–Auburn Tigers matchup has the potential to be one of the better early window games. The best bet for this game lies with the Under, since the Aggies and Tigers have both been hitting the Under lately. Auburn has seen the Under hit in five straight games.
Meanwhile, the Aggies have seen the point total go Under in their last two games and in their last seven road games the Under has hit in six of those games. Bettors should take the Under for this matchup with confidence as the Auburn offense has also struggled to put up points.
West Virginia Mountaineers vs. No. 9 Iowa State Cyclones Odds @ 3:30 p.m. EST
- Spread: Cyclones (-6.5)
- Moneyline: Mountaineers (+200) vs. No. 9 Cyclones (-240)
- O/U: 49
Best Bet: Under 49 points. The #9 Iowa State Cyclones host their Big 12 rival the West Virginia Mountaineers in what legal sports betting sites think will be a tight game. West Virginia’s defense has shown an ability to stifle opposing offenses and that could happen in this game.
The best bet for this game is the Under as five of the last six meetings between these two teams has led to the Under hitting. West Virginia as the road team has seen the Under hit in four of their last five games as well take the Under in what should be a rare low scoring Big 12 matchup.
No. 12 Indiana Hoosiers vs. No. 16 Wisconsin Badgers Odds @ 3:30 p.m. EST
- Spread: Badgers (-14)
- Moneyline: Hoosiers (+375) vs. Badgers (-550)
- O/U: 62.5
Best Bet: Badgers ATS (-14). Despite the Indiana Hoosiers being ranked higher they come into this game as the underdog. They will be without starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. which will be a major issue for Indiana and why the best bet for this game lies with the Wisconsin Badgers.
The Hoosiers will start Jack Tuttle who will be making his first-ever start.
The Badgers’ defense will make it tough for Indiana to put points on the board. Take the odds on Wisconsin covering the 14 point spread as they’re 2-1 ATS this season and in their last six games overall have a 4-2 mark ATS.
No. 13 BYU Cougars vs. No. 18 Coastal Carolina Odds @ 5:30 p.m. EST
- Spread: Cougars (-10)
- Moneyline: BYU (-360) vs. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (+280)
- O/U: 62.5
Best Bet: BYU ML (-360). The BYU Cougars–Coastal Carolina Chanticleers game should be a matchup that many bettors look towards as both teams are undefeated this season and have a 7-1-1 mark ATS. The Cougars are led by one of the best quarterbacks in the nation in Zach Wilson as he is playing like he’ll be a top selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.
This should be a close game and instead of taking the spread, the best bet for this game seems to be taking BYU’s moneyline odds. Coastal Carolina has a solid team that can give BYU problems but Zach Wilson will be the difference maker and taking the Cougars SU at -360 odds is better than losing the bet based on points.
