MONTREAL – Winnipeg, catching +4.5 at Saskatchewan on Sunday, leads the CFL Week 14 best bets, a three-underdog card. The slate opens tonight with B.C. +3.5 at Montreal at 7:30 p.m. Eastern and closes with Hamilton +3.5 against Toronto on Labor Day.
The Numbers Moved First
The case for each play formed on a Wednesday snapshot, and the market has since taken the best of it. Winnipeg was +5.5 in Regina midweek and now sits at +4.5 at most shops.
Montreal opened the weekend laying 4.5 against B.C., and most books now post 3.5, though a few shops still showed 4.5 as the weekend opened. Hamilton’s +3.5 is the only number holding, and anything at +4 or better on the Tiger-Cats beats what the original case required.

Winnipeg Brings The Form To Regina
Winnipeg entered last week with real questions about its place in the West race and answered by taking apart the best team in the league, beating Montreal 44-28 behind 447 net yards. Brady Oliveira ran for 106 yards on 16 carries, and a ground game like that travels well to Mosaic Stadium, where wind pushes offenses toward the run anyway.
The honest risks are real. Saskatchewan is the better team on record at 7-4 to Winnipeg’s 6-5, and Mosaic Stadium is one of the loudest buildings in the league. This is also the first meeting of the year between the teams, so no revenge angle applies. At +4.5 rather than the vanished +5.5, the case still holds, just with less cushion.
Hamilton’s Holiday Edge Meets A QB Question
The middle play leans on the calendar. The Labor Day home date at Tim Hortons Field is a long-standing Tiger-Cats edge, and Monday settles a season series tied 1-1, so a Hamilton loss would effectively end its claim on the East’s second playoff spot.
Toronto, at 5-6 to Hamilton’s 4-8, managed 15 rushing yards on four attempts last week against Saskatchewan, an outage that pushed the whole offense through the air.
The quarterback situations cut against the Tiger-Cats. Chad Kelly threw for 416 yards and three touchdowns despite breaking a toe in that Saskatchewan game, and head coach Mike Miller expects Kelly to play Monday despite a missed practice.
Hamilton has not confirmed its own starter between Tre Ford and Harrison Frost, part of the churn that has followed Bo Levi Mitchell’s July ankle surgery, and the Tiger-Cats have lost five of their last six. A depth chart with Ford atop it strengthens the play; an unsettled one is the main reason this is a half-measure bet rather than the lead.
B.C. Tonight, Small Or Not At All
The Lions arrive as the hottest team in the league, winners of five straight behind Nathan Rourke, whose 22-of-25, 355-yard night against Ottawa was his fourth consecutive 300-yard passing game. Zander Horvath ran for 164 yards and four touchdowns in that 45-24 win, and Montreal’s defense is stronger against the pass than the run. B.C. has also won six straight in this series.
Everything else favors the home side, which is why the original number mattered. Davis Alexander’s calf is not the edge it looks like, since the quarterback practiced through the soreness this week and says there is no chance he takes a week off. Behind him, 9-2 Montreal is 6-0 at home.
The game carries a 61.5 total, and even at +4.5 this graded as the weakest of the three plays. At the +3.5 most books now post, the play is a pass unless a 4.5 turns up in a line shop before kickoff.
