DraftKings Sportsbook has launched its first overseas sportsbook in Ireland.

  • DraftKings has launched online sports betting in Ireland that is powered by its new provider SBTech.
  • The company also has its recently expanded office located in Dublin to be able to address all international issues effectively.
  • DraftKings has also expanded in the US sports betting market by opening a retail sportsbook in New Hampshire last week.

DUBLIN, Ireland – DraftKings has launched its first internationally licensed online sports betting service in Ireland with sports wagering platform provider SBTech.

The Irish Office of Revenue Commissioners has given the online sportsbook its license to be available for players at Sportsbook.draftkingd.ie and operated by Crown Gaming Malta Ltd.

With the recently acquired provider SBTech powering the site, it will test how well DraftKings can shift its unique betting operations which were previously provided by Kambi. Issues with the shift could cause “cyberattacks” to the betting site.

SBTech is a technology provider based in Europe that DraftKings merged with during the spring of 2020. The purchase Diamond Eagle Acquisitions made possibly had an effect on this launch in Ireland now that DraftKings is the first and only online betting and sports betting company that is vertically integrated in the US.

Currently, the new legal sports betting platform in Ireland is accepting wagers on popular worldwide sports leagues along with the local mainstream sports including Gaelic football and hurling. There have been reports that DraftKings will also release an online casino though it is not technically permitted in Ireland according to gaming legislation.

Ireland is no stranger to DraftKings as it was the first overseas sports betting market it launched daily sports operation in 2017 and Dublin, one of the biggest tech hubs in Europe, is where the first overseas office was opened for the company.

The Dublin office was recently expanded to accommodate the increase of team members and will allow for the company to adequately respond to it issues in Ireland and easily access international venders.

The company has not only grown international but also expanded within US lines in the last week as DraftKings partnered with the New Hampshire Lottery and opened a second land-based sportsbook in Manchester, NH.
