NEW YORK – Seven major sports betting brands including FanDuel and DraftKings are partnering together to form the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA).

The seven sites that make up the newly formed Responsible Online Gaming Association make up over 80% of the US-based legal sports betting market. Those online gaming sites are:

  • BetMGM
  • Bet365
  • DraftKings
  • Fanatics
  • FanDuel
  • Hard Rock
  • PENN

According to the ROGA press release, there are five pillars that the new gambling association is focusing on:

  • Consumer and Industry Responsible Gaming Education and Awareness: One of the main focuses will be to improve the responsible gaming education and awareness of consumers. Also, the group will promote responsible gambling advertising and marketing by online betting sites.
  • Independent Certification Program: The group will create a certification program that is run independently of the ROGA. Specifically, it will provide an objective evaluation of the policies and procedures in place by online operators for responsible gambling.
  • Independent Data Clearinghouse: The legal online sportsbooks based in the US will create a database that shares information about players in order to create industry-wide protection for problem gamblers.
  • Promoting Responsible Gaming Practices: All of the companies that make up ROGA will advocate for responsible gambling practices to be implemented throughout the industry.
  • Research: The association will help fund research by independent organizations for issues in the gambling community.

Some other notable details released about the creation of the Responsible Online Gaming Association include:

  • Combined, the seven members of ROGA have contributed over $20 million to their causes. Those include research surrounding responsible gambling, development of the database for problem gamblers, and the creation of advertisements for responsible online gambling.
  • Dr. Jennifer Shatley will be the first Executive Director of ROGA. She is widely known for many reasons, most notably for her work in the Nevada sports betting industry. Also, she is the President of the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling.
