- NCAA President Charlie Baker has called for the ban on college basketball betting props again following the news.
INDIANAPOLIS – Charlie Baker, the current President of the NCAA, has once again called for a ban on college basketball prop bets. This follows a new development in the basketball gambling scandal that caused a stir in the NBA world.
When 30-plus people were arrested on October 23, including NBA player Terry Rozier and NBA coach Chauncey Billups, the FBI said that there was no college basketball involvement. This turned out not to be true, as the FBI found sports betting connections between the NBA and the NCAA.
Along with the FBI, Pennsylvania’s Eastern District federal prosecutors have also launched an investigation regarding betting on college basketball inside Division 1 programs.
What Teams Are Involved In The NCAAB Betting Scandal?
Arizona State, North Carolina A&T, Mississippi Valley State, San Jose State, Temple, University of New Orleans, Fresno State, Eastern Michigan, Stony Brook, and Alabama State are some of the basketball programs named in the scandal.
This is not a surprise to those tracking scandals in the world of legal sports betting. Two players for Fresno State (Mykell Robinson and Jalen Weaver) and one player from San Jose State (Steven Vasquez) received bans for participating in betting on college basketball and sharing inside information.
While these cases concluded rather quickly, this current investigation could last much longer.
In total, 30 current and former college basketball players were named in this scandal, the NCAA announced. This is a tough start to the 2025-26 college basketball season, as more information could continue to unfold.
