Flagg Just Ahead Of Edgecombe In NBA ROTY Race Odds
  • Cooper Flagg is the favorite to win NBA Rookie of the Year at -115 odds.
  • VJ Edgecombe leads all rookies in scoring with 25 points per game in his first three games.

DALLAS – Just a few games into the NBA season, rookies are already making noise around the league and with that comes major movement in the Rookie of the Year futures market.

2025 NBA Rookie of the Year Odds

  • Cooper Flagg -115
  • VJ Edgecombe +140
  • Tre Johnson +1800
  • Dylan Harper +2000
  • Kon Knueppel +2300
  • Ace Bailey +3000

Legal sports betting sites still have Cooper Flagg listed as the favorite to win Rookie of the Year with -115 odds, followed closely by VJ Edgecombe at +140.

Clear Top Two

Flagg has gotten off to a decent start to the season, averaging 13 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1 steal per game through his first four games.

His efficiency has left much to be desired thus far, shooting just 38% from the field and 26.7% from the three point line, a far cry from his hyper-efficient college career, where he shot 48.1% from the field and 38.5% from deep.

VJ Edgecombe, on the other hand, has had no issues adjusting to the league so far, averaging 25 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1.7 steals per game through his first three games while shooting 50% from the field and 40% from three.

The 76ers dynamic rookie burst onto the scene with a franchise record 34 point debut against the Celtics and has looked every bit the part of a potential franchise cornerstone alongside Tyrese Maxey.

Dark Horses

The #6 overall pick Tre Johnson comes in with the third best odds to win the award, although he is much more of a longshot at +1800.

Johnson has averaged 17 points per game in his first three games for the Wizards while shooting 47.4% from the field and 42.9% from deep in just 27 minutes per game.

If he sees his role expanded, Johnson has a legitimate chance to average over 20 points per game as a rookie.

Dylan Harper has been as advertised, averaging 14.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1 steal per game with efficient splits. His statistical ceiling is capped, however, simply because of the depth the Spurs have at the guard position.

Harper may very well have the most all-around impact of the rookies, but will not have the real estate to post the gaudy numbers necessary to compete for the award.

Kon Knueppel was tabbed as the best shooter in the draft and has lived up to that billing, shooting 57.9% from three on 6.3 attempts per game en route to a smooth 15 points per game through his first three games.

Knueppel may have a solid case by the end of the season, but a solid case likely will not be enough to win in what is shaping up to be one of the better draft classes in recent memory.

Rounding out the top six is Ace Bailey, who has not been able to make any significant contributions to this point, averaging just over 15 minutes per game.

Bailey finds himself behind Lauri Markannen, Svi Mykhailuk, Kyle Filipowski, Brice Sensabaugh, and Taylor Hendricks for minutes at the wing / forward position, meaning competing for Rookie of the Year is an uphill battle for Utah’s fifth overall pick.

Best Bet

It’s hard to imagine that VJ Edgecombe will ever be a better value bet than right now at +140 as he continues to impress.

Even after a historic start to his career, legal NBA betting sites are hesitant to list him as the favorite and bettors should take full advantage.
