Churchill Downs Incorporated, Scientific Games, and Ainsworth have entered a three-way partnership.

  • Churchill Downs Incorporated and Ainsworth add Scientific games to their partnership.
  • Scientific Games brings at least five different games to their historical racing machines.
  • Churchill Downs Racetrack is where the annual Kentucky Derby is held.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) and Ainsworth are adding to their already existing partnership by bringing in Scientific Games. With this addition, the three are looking to add more advanced technology into their Historical Racing Machines (HRM).

This partnership would have an effect on CDI properties in Kentucky. Scientific games had to gain approval from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Kentucky is known as a premiere state with legal horse betting and this new partnership reaffirms that conception.

Partnership

The addition of Scientific Games to the Ainsworth and CDI partnership brings a different mindset to the group as Scientific Games has the capability of bringing in more advanced technology that will appeal to the players.

“We have enjoyed a great partnership with the CDI team and are excited to bring in Scientific Games to this unique partnership—the addition of Scientific Games and platforms on our proprietary HRM system will create an even more robust gaming mix for both of these properties,” said Ryan Comstock, Chief Operating Officer for Ainsworth.

CDI is looking forward to the addition of Scientific Games as well, as they would be adding new cabinets of machines to their properties.

“Scientific Games makes some of the best-performing games in the industry and we are delighted to add their product to our HRM properties—our guests will recognize the Scientific Games themes and they will love the way the games play,” said Austin Miller, Senior Vice President, Gaming Operations for CDI.

The introduction of Scientific Games gives them an opportunity to upgrade the platform of their Historical Racing Machine. A Historical Racing Machine allows players to bet on previously run horse and dog races. It also gives players the chance to handicap these races as well.

Once their bet is placed, a replay of the ending of the race appears on the screen where the result of the players bet is also shown. This is method of wagering is a bit different than the legal sports betting that the state lawmakers are trying to pass.

What Scientific Games Brings To The Table

What Scientific Games is adding to the mix is mainly their gaming platform which includes state-of-the art-machines. They will be placing cabinets of these machines in four different CDI properties.

With the placement of these machines and approval from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, they will be adding the HRM games to these machines along with other popular games. These games include:

  • 88 Fortunes
  • Tree of Wealth
  • Quick Hit
  • Lock It Link
  • Ultimate Fire

“The team at Scientific Games is extremely excited to partner with CDI and Ainsworth in the new venture—both companies have been pioneers in opening up this burgeoning new segment of the gaming market and we are honored they have chosen to work with us in offering the very best in player experiences,” said Robert Parente, EVP and Chief Revenue Officer for Scientific Games.
