McIlroy, Scheffler Trending In Different Directions Ahead Of Open Championship
  • Scottie Scheffler has +500 odds to win the Open Championship.
  • Rory McIlroy has +600 odds to win the Open Championship.
  • Scottie Scheffler has finished outside of the top 5 in his last three tournaments.

COUNTRY ANTRIM, Ireland – The PGA Tour continues with the final major of 2025, the Open Championship which begins on Thursday at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

As always, it’s Scottie Scheffler sitting at the top of legal sports betting sites to win with Rory McIlroy not far behind with the second shortest odds. They are the only two with odds under +1200 to win.

2025 Open Championship Odds

  • Scottie Scheffler +500
  • Rory McIlroy +600
  • Jon Rahm +1200
  • Bryson DeChambeau +2000
  • Ludvig Aberg +2200
  • Robert MacIntyre +2500
  • Shane Lowry +2500
  • Tommy Fleetwood +2500
  • Tyrrell Hatton +2500
  • Xander Schauffele +2500

Rory Continues To Thrive While Scotties Keeps Sliding

Make no mistake on Scottie Scheffler as the number one ranked golfer in the world to this point having won three tournaments thus far and placing in the top-8 in each one. However, since winning the Memorial Tournament, he has failed to place in the top-5 in his three outings following that win.

He had a T7 finish at the U.S. Open, T6 at the Travelers Championship, and T8 finish last week at the Scottish Open.

On the other hand, following his disastrous T47 finish at the PGA Championship and failing to make the cut at the RBC Canadian Open, Rory McIlroy has been climbing ever since. He finished T19 at the US Open, T6 the following week at the Travelers Championship, and in second place at the Scottish Open last week.

Previous Open Championship Odds Fading The Top

Those betting based on history and previous winners should know that it is not on the side of either McIlroy or Scheffler. Every year since 2007, the winner of the Open Championship has done so with over +1000 odds on PGA betting sites. The last golfer to win with under +1000 odds was Tiger Woods back in 2006 when he won with +500 odds.
