MT POCONO, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Gaming Board approved sports betting for the Mount Airy Casino Resort & Spa on Wednesday.

What Will The Casino Look Like?

The upcoming sportsbook will be built in one of the casino’s old clubs. They will convert the Gypsies Night Club into a sportsbook and poker room. The total space they have to work with is about 7,000 square feet.

About 3,800 square feet will be for the sportsbook. There will be self-service kiosk placed around the sportsbook for people to use. On top of the kiosks, live tellers will also be present. They are also planning to bring in multiple flat-screen televisions for bettors to watch the games. Oddsboards and ample seating are also going to be present in the room.

The remaining 3,200 square feet will be for the new poker room. The owners are moving the poker room from the third floor to this new location on the first. They believe that the two facilities will complement each other. As sports bettors are waiting for the games to play out, they can play poker.

The Upcoming Pennsylvania Sportsbooks

The Mount Airy Sportsbook will likely be the tenth sportsbook in Pennsylvania. The Mohegan Sun Pocono announced they plan to open in August. Presque Isle currently does not have an estimated time for their upcoming sportsbook.

The Mount Airy Sportsbook is hoping to open before the NFL season begins. This will be before September 5. This will allow the casino to maximize profits from the NFL games. The casino will able to start legal sports betting on week two of the NCAA football season.
