• Mount Airy Casino paid $21.1 million for their sports betting license last year.
  • Partnered with The Stars Group, the sportsbook will display official NBA data.
  • The Casino also has plans to offer a book at their planned satellite casino.

MOUNT POCONO, Pa. – Planning to “make an exciting announcement in the next few weeks”, the Mount Airy Casino Resort is almost ready to put their $21.1 million sports betting license to use.

After entering into a partnership with the Stars Group in August of last year, Mount Airy will offer both land-based and online sports wagering.

The online book will also offer a poker room, table games, and slot machines for Pennsylvania players.

“In partnership with Mount Airy Casino Resort, we believe we’re well positioned to capitalize on opportunities in the Commonwealth by bringing our world-leading offerings to Pennsylvania players,” said Matt Primeaux, The Stars Group’s SVP of Strategy and Operations.

The capitalization Primeaux speaks of will come not only from offering sports wagering, but also the addition of their $40 million hotel and convention center expansion. Originally set to open in April, the additional 100 rooms at the hotel and the added floor space to the venue, will launch on May 3.

The renovation comes as no surprise as Mount Airy Casino has become of one the most favorite spots by Pennsylvania tourists and locals. In fact, according to year-to-year revenue reports provided by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, Mount Airy had the highest gain from last year at 11.34%.

The casino also laid out plans to develop a satellite casino roughly 30 miles north of Pittsburgh, as discussed in Monday’s public hearing on satellite casino expansion.

Both the main and satellite casino will be paired with The Stars Group, which will allow Mount Airy to use official league betting data. The sportsbooks will also be able to brandish official NBA logos due to The Stars Group and the NBA having a partnership.

“Introducing Internet gaming through The Stars Group will provide compelling opportunities for our customers, particularly our younger customers, who are ready to experience the next gaming challenge,” said Vince Jordan, Mount Airy Casino’s VP of Marketing and Gaming Operations.

Elsewhere in Pennsylvania, the sports betting license for Presque Isle Downs and Casino has been approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
