Fiesta Bowl and Orange Bowl

  • The North Carolina Tar Heels have +240 longshot odds to beat the Texas A&M Aggies in the Orange Bowl.
  • The Iowa State Cyclones are the -115 favorite to beat the Oregon Ducks in the Fiesta Bowl.
  • Texas A&M finished the season rank 5 in the nation.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – College football bettors have a lot of action to place their wagers on as two major bowl games are incoming.

Sports bettors are betting on the Orange Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl, with the higher-ranked programs being the favorite in both games.

With the end of the NCAA season, college football betting fans will have their last major hoorah to place action on before waiting until next season.

Fiesta Bowl Matchup

Oregon Ducks Vs. Iowa State Cyclones

  • Moneyline: Iowa State -183, Oregon +163
  • Spread: Iowa State -3.5
  • Totals: Over/Under 57.5

Unsurprisingly, the number 10 ranked Iowa State Cyclones are favored over the number 25 ranked Oregon Ducks. The Cyclones ended the season with an 8-3 record compared to the Ducks 4-2 record.

Underdog bettors should note, however, that Iowa state is only favored by 3.5 points. This means that even sportsbooks recognize that these teams are closer in talent.

What underdog bettors taking Oregon to pull the upset should be hoping for is a strong showing for QB Tyler Shough. The sophomore QB had a solid year, raking in 1,480 passing yards for 13 TD’s to just five interceptions.

As Oregon is not that strong of a rushing team, only boasting a total of 1,081 yards on the season, Iowa States’ defensive line will make easy work of the Ducks running game.

The teams running back Travis Dye only managed to run for 391 yards and score one touchdown during the regular season. If Oregon is to pull the upset, they cannot afford to rely on Dye, putting a lot of the pressure on AB Shough to make plays.

Those who are taking the favorite Iowa State to win should also be looking to the Cyclones to cover the spread. Not only because the spread is just -3.5, but also because the Cyclones are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games as the favorite.

The smart money is on Iowa State to cover the spread, but underdog bettors could still go home winning big.

Orange Bowl

Texas A&M Aggies Vs. North Carolina Tar Heels

  • Moneyline: Texas A&M -112, North Carolina +240
  • Spread: Texas A&M -7 ½
  • Totals: Over/Under 65 ½

The Texas A&M Aggies are heavily favored and it is mainly due to the strong offense that head coach Jimbo Fisher has instilled in the team. Fishers coaching this season has even garnered the admiration of the North Carolina Tar Heels coaching staff.

“I think he’s a tremendous football coach,” said Jay Bateman, defensive coordinator of the North Carolina Tar Heels. “I think he’s a tremendous play-caller. “He does a lot. So I think schematically he gives you a lot of conflicts, probably as many conflicts as anybody we’ve played.”

Under Fisher, the Aggies managed to finish the season with an 8-1 record and is ranked fifth in the nation. This game will be a hard fight for the Tar Heels, leaving underdog bettors in a tough spot.

Those taking the Tar Heels to pull the upset regardless of the odds stacked against them may also want to look at taking action on other betting lines like the game’s totals.

Texas A&M’s defense has consistently allowed for low scoring games. The Under is 6-0 in the last 6 Aggies games when they gained 200 yards in their previous game, 5-1 in the last six games the Aggies covered the spread, and 5-1 in the last six games the Aggies played following a 20 point victory.

Taking the Under has historically been a good bet when betting on Texas A&M. in addition, the Under is 4-0 in the last four SEC matchups for the Tar Heels.

As Texas A&M is likely to steamroll North Carolina, taking alternative wagers may be a good way to cash in at legal sports betting on the Orange Bowl.
