LOS ANGELES – This week’s NL Pennant odds tracker separates the contenders from the pretenders as teams bought and sold at the MLB Trade Deadline. The biggest acquisition was Tarik Skubal to the Dodgers, but it only shortened their odds to win the National League from -110 to -120.

The Dodgers are the biggest winners of the deadline, even if their odds didn’t move drastically. Their expected upgrades and World Series pedigree was already baked into their price, but here are the top acquisitions LA made at the deadline.

It’s surprising the Dodgers didn’t need a fourth prospect to acquire Skubal and they gained even more left-handed pitching with Lauer and Bubic. However, their rivals in the San Diego Padres also deserve praise after acquiring the second and third-best pitchers at the deadline in Robbie Ray and Casey Mize.
After their deadline acquistions and an 8-2 stretch in their last 10 games, the Padres California sports betting odds to win the Pennant shortened to +3500 from +5000. They’re creeping closer to being back in the mix and are 11.5 games back.

The Brewers hold their ground atop the NL standings by half a game, and they bolstered their pitching staff at the deadline. Milwaukee added starting pitcher Dustin May and reliever JoJo Romero from the St. Louis Cardinals and then added right-handed reliever Antonio Senzatela from the Colorado Rockies.
The next contender is the Atlanta Braves; who’s odds remain at +550 despite their five-game win streak. Atlanta added a right-handed outfielder in Lane Thomas, a backend starting pitcher in Tyler Mahle, and some bullpen depth with Brent Suter, but didn’t make a big splash worthy of shifting their odds.
Who’s Hot: Matt Olson And The Atlanta Braves
Atlanta’s slugging first baseman Matt Olson homered in three-straight games and led the Braves to five-straight wins. They swept a four-game home series against the Washington Nationals, essentially putting the Nats into sell mode at the deadline.
Olson’s been the most reliable bat in the lineup with 10 hits in as many games, plus they’ve got Ronald Acuna Jr. back at the top of the lineup. Atlanta hosts the Miami Marlins for three games before hitting the road to play the New York Yankees, a spot where the Braves can keep climbing towards the top of the NL standings.
Who’s Not: CJ Abrams And The Washington Nationals
It’s rare for a player to win NL Player of the Month yet also find himself in a “who’s not hot” list, but Abrams has cooled off in his last six games. Coincidentally, Washington lost their last six games.
Abrams went 0-4 with three strikeouts in back-to-back games, plus his fielding has been poor at shortstop. He committed multiple errors in their weekend series with the Braves, including one that allowed the go-ahead run to score on Sunday.

Los Angeles lost each of their last four games, including getting swept at home by the Boston Red Sox. It could get worse with two more games in Chicago against the Cubs and another three-game road series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
