Ezekiel Elliott, Mike McCarthy, Dak Prescott

  • Dak Prescott has -6500 odds of being the Dallas Cowboys QB1 next season.
  • Ezekiel Elliott has +1000 odds to be traded before next season.
  • Mike McCarthy is favored to be the Cowboys head coach next season with -550 odds.

DALLAS – After a letdown in the 2022 NFL Playoffs, there have been rumblings of the Dallas Cowboys potentially blowing things up before the start of the 2022-23 season.

There were high hopes for the Cowboys this season. Their Super Bowl 56 odds reached +1000 in the season and were one of the best teams against the spread, starting 7-0.

However, after their home loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round, legal sports betting sites have odds on Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Mike McCarthy remaining with the team for next season.

Will Dak Remain As The Cowboys QB1?

Dallas Cowboys Starting QB For The 2022-23 Season

  • Dak Prescott -6500
  • Cooper Rush +650
  • Russell Wilson +900
  • Baker Mayfield +2000
  • Aaron Rodgers +2500

There is no reason to believe that the Cowboys are ready to move on from Dak Prescott under center. He is coming off of one of his best seasons having put up 4,449 passing yards, 37 touchdowns (career-high), 10 interceptions, and a 54.8 QBR.

Making this even more impressive is that he did this after coming off of a serious leg injury in the 2020-21 season that took him out after just five games. Prescott is still considered one of the elite quarterbacks in the league and is hardly considered the problem in Dallas. That said, his NFL odds to remain the Cowboys starting quarterback are a lock.

Is This The End Of Mike McCarthy In Dallas?

Dallas Cowboys Head Coach For 2022-23 Season

  • Mike McCarthy -550
  • Kellen Moore +275
  • Dan Quinn +500
  • Brian Daboll +1500
  • Byron Leftwich +1500

While many are quick to bash Mike McCarthy as the problem for the Cowboys, they are also quick to forget the turnaround that he has led them to. McCarthy went from a 6-10 record and 3rd in the NFC East in his first season with them to a 12-5, division-winning record in his second season.

McCarthy also made history with this Cowboys team as this group scored the most points by a Cowboys team in history this season with 530 points scored.

McCarthy is a very seasoned coach with nine playoff appearances in 15 years as a head coach. In these nine playoffs runs, he has gone to four conference championship games and won a Super Bowl as well. He will certainly get a fair chance to prove himself next season making his odds to remain the coach of the Cowboys very strong.

Is Zeke The Problem In Dallas?

Dallas Cowboys Starting RB For 2022-23

  • Ezekiel Elliott -225
  • Tony Pollard +150
  • JaQuan Hardy +850
  • Rico Dowdle +850

Will Ezekiel Elliott Be Traded Before 2022-23 Season?

  • Yes +1000
  • No -5000

There is no hiding that Zeke has been a bit disappointing in his last two seasons. Since his 2019 season where he went for a solid 1,300+ rushing yards and 420 receiving yards, he put up 979 rushing yards and 338 receiving yards in 2020 and 1,002 rushing yards and 287 receiving yards in 2021.

While he is still being used as the Cowboys lead back, he was drastically outplayed by his backup, Tony Pollard, this past season. In 137 less rushing attempts than Zeke, Pollard went for 719 rushing yards. Pollard also had eight fewer receptions than Zeke at 39 this season where he put up more receiving yards than him as well (337).

Elliott also folded under pressure in the playoffs as he only managed 31 rushing yards in 12 attempts. This might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for the Cowboys and Elliott’s odds to be traded are enticing.
