NFL Draft and WNBA Draft

  • The Ohio Casino Control Commission approved new sports betting markets for the upcoming NFL Draft and next year’s WNBA Draft.
  • Ohio looks to compete with the massive sports betting markets offered at internationally-licensed sportsbooks like Bovada.
  • First round coverage of the 2024 NFL Draft begins on Thursday.

CLEVELANDOhio added some new sports betting markets for Thursday’s NFL Draft. The list of approved legal sports betting wagers provided by the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) also includes markets for next year’s WNBA Draft.

The NFL Draft doesn’t get as much betting attention at domestic online sportsbooks as it does at internationally-licensed sportsbooks. This has a lot to do with the amount of betting markets offered, and the recent Ohio sports betting additions look to change that.

Ohio Wants To Compete With Internationally-Licensed Markets

The list of new betting markets includes four NFL Draft markets and one WNBA Draft market. The WNBA markets include betting on the Number X Overall pick, excluding No. 1 and No. 2 overall selections.

  • Team A to draft both Players X and Player Y (and Player Z?)
  • Total Number of Draft Day Trades
  • Will a defensive player be selected within the top 10 selections of the NFL draft?
  • Will all teams in X Division Draft a Y (position)

These new NFL Draft betting markets are rather unique, especially the division-wide positional draft prop. NFL Draft odds at Bovada offer bets on the total number of x position drafted in the first round, position odds for each team’s first pick, and odds for each player x team would select but nothing exactly like Ohio now offers.

It’s only the second set of approved wagers added to Ohio’s Event and Wager Catalogue in 2024. The OCCC’s previous most recent addition was betting markets for the United Football League (UFL) on March 4, 2024.
