• GAN officially announced a partnership with Parx Casino in July of 2018.
  • Parx Casino becomes the second licensed casino to offer a state-wide mobile sports betting app in Pennsylvania.

BENSALEM, Pa. – After a three-day testing period, Parx Casino is now officially able to offer it’s online sports wagering platform to anyone located in the state of Pennsylvania 24/7. Parx was able to get a head start to the offering, thanks to their previous partnership with GAN.

GAN is an international internet gambling software supplier and announced a partnership with Parx back in July of 2018. Since then, Parx has also brought on board Kambi to help power both their retail and online sportsbook.

“GAN has now ably demonstrated its abilities with both its overall platform and sports betting integration capability,” said John Dixon, Chief Operating Officer of Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, Inc, the parent company of Parx Casino.

“By leveraging GAN’s proven platform, Parx Casino has rapidly deployed internet sports betting, integrated with our XCLUB on-property rewards program, to become the second internet sports betting operator to launch in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”

The online betting platform powered by GAN can link to a user’s rewards member account, meaning that any rewards earned through online betting can be redeemed at the onsite property.

GAN also plans to integrate the app into an iGaming platform that Parx hopes to release next month. Pending upon regulatory approval, internet casino gaming is expected to launch in PA on July 15.

“Following the launch in Pennsylvania earlier this week, GAN now offers clients a premium Platform equipped with multiple options for integrated legal Sports betting,” said Dermot Smurfit, CEO of GAN.

“We look forward to pairing this seamlessly alongside Gan’s market-leading Internet casino product that utilizes our patented technology for leveraging on-property reward programs.”

Impact On Online Sports Betting In PA

As far as retail gambling is concerned, Parx Casino holds the crown in PA. Parx represents 18% of Pennsylvania’s $3.2 billion gambling market, according to revenue figures posted by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Although, online gaming may present a new challenge for the casino. Pennsylvania sports betting now has three online options for sports waging apps available to anyone that is physically located in the state. Parx will have to compete with both SugarHouse Casino and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh in the online market.

SugarHouse, which launched its online sportsbook in May, was able to gather $573,163 in its online handle with only four days of operation in that month.

They will also have to compete with neighboring state New Jersey who has built a loyal customer base by having online sports betting apps for several months now.

However, the summer launch date gives those in PA a chance to get used to the app before the start of football season. The greater financial impact will most likely be seen after next month when all three apps are operational.
