SEATTLE – Bovada has cut Seattle’s Week 1 favorite number from 4 points to 3.5 points over New England and trimmed the Seahawks’ moneyline from -210 to -185 in the past month, ahead of the Super Bowl LX rematch Sept. 9 at Lumen Field.
The Number Has Moved Since The First Look
A month ago, Bovada had the Seahawks-Patriots rematch at Seattle -4 (-105) with New England +4 (-115) and a 44.5 total, the numbers covered in Seahawks vs. Patriots NFL season opener odds on Aug. 10. That board is gone. Seattle now lays 3.5 at -115, New England takes the points at -105, and the total has come down to 44.
Backing Seattle to win outright now costs less than it did in August, down to -185 from -210, while the payout for taking New England to win outright has shrunk from +175 to +160 over the same stretch. BetOnline shows the same 3.5-point spread, Seattle -3.5 (-106) and New England +3.5 (-114), though its total still sits at 44.5.
| Market | Bovada | BetOnline |
|---|---|---|
| Seahawks spread | -3.5 (-115) | -3.5 (-106) |
| Patriots spread | +3.5 (-105) | +3.5 (-114) |
| Seahawks moneyline | -185 | -182 |
| Patriots moneyline | +160 | +159 |
| Total | 44 (-110) | 44.5 (-112/-108) |
New England Added The Receiver It Was Missing
The Patriots traded for wide receiver A.J. Brown this offseason, sending Philadelphia a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-rounder to give Drake Maye the perimeter target New England’s offense lacked in its run to Super Bowl LX. Brown reunites with coach Mike Vrabel, who coached him in Tennessee. A healthier, better-armed New England is the kind of roster news that moves a number at NFL betting sites on its own, and it lines up with the direction the board has taken since August.
Seattle Let Its Super Bowl MVP Walk
The other side of the ledger is Seattle’s. Running back Kenneth Walker III signed with Kansas City in free agency after rushing for 135 yards and winning Super Bowl LX MVP in Seattle’s 29-13 win, a night the Seahawks’ defense sacked Maye six times and forced three turnovers. Losing that weapon without a trade return gives the Seahawks less proven production at kickoff than they had the night they beat New England in February.
Seattle and New England will be just the second pair of Super Bowl opponents to meet in the following season’s kickoff opener, after Denver’s 2016 rematch win over Carolina following Super Bowl 50. The Sept. 9 kickoff at Lumen Field airs on NBC at 8:20 p.m. ET, and bettors tracking legal sports betting markets still have a week for the number to move again before the defending champions and the Patriots meet.
