Eastern Michigan -3 Is Friday Night's Tightest CFB Line
  • Eastern Michigan is a 3-point favorite over San José State, the tightest spread on Friday night’s college football board.
  • Bovada and BetOnline both list the Eagles at -150 on the moneyline and the Spartans at +130.
  • Eastern Michigan is 1-0 and San José State is 0-1 entering their Mid-American-Mountain West crossover.
  • The game’s total sits at 56 points, priced at -110 on both sides at both books.

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Eastern Michigan is a 3-point favorite over San José State, the tightest spread anywhere on Friday night’s college football slate as the Mid-American Conference’s Eagles host the Mountain West’s Spartans.

A Field Goal Separates The Board’s Tightest Line

Nothing else on Friday’s slate is within a possession. Michigan State is -9.5 hosting Toledo, Fresno State is +21.5 as a visitor at USC, Miami (Fla.) is -24.5 at Stanford, and Oklahoma is -41 at home against UTEP. Eastern Michigan-San José State is the only Friday game priced inside a touchdown, let alone inside a field goal, which puts it alone as the board’s closest call heading into the opening full weekend of September.

Backing the Eagles outright costs $150 to win $100 at either book, a premium over the standard -110 juice on the spread itself, the cost of skipping the 3-point cushion the spread offers. A straight moneyline play on the favorite pays out less relative to the risk than a bet on the spread.

Records Frame The Crossover

Eastern Michigan carries a 1-0 record into the game; San José State is 0-1. Both books agree on the same 3-point legal sports betting spread, which reads as a market treating the Spartans’ opening loss as more about the schedule than the roster. Neither price has moved enough to call either team overrated.

The total sits at 56, with -110 odds on the over and the under. Getting there requires close to 28 points a side, a number that leans on both offenses finding rhythm in the season’s second week rather than either defense forcing a low-scoring script.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET at Rynearson Stadium, one of five priced games on Friday’s legal college football betting board heading into the Labor Day weekend.
