Oddsmakers Like Mets Over Braves With Peterson Starting
  • The New York Mets have -202 odds to defeat the Atlanta Braves at home on Tuesday night.
  • After losing the first two, the Mets have beat the Braves in three consecutive games entering tonight.

NEW YORK – An NL East battle resumes on Tuesday night as the Atlanta Braves seek revenge against the New York Mets after last night’s loss at Citi Field.

Braves vs Mets Game Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Braves +1.5 (-125) +166 O 9.0 (EVEN)
Mets -1.5 (+105) -202 U 9.0 (-120)

Legal sports betting sites expect the Mets to come away with this one and extend their season series lead to 4-2 over the Braves. Here is everything you need to know to bet on tonight’s game.

Pitching Matchup

The Mets will get a big boost from David Peterson, who will start tonight against Carlos Carrasco for the Braves.

Peterson has been one of the better pitchers in the MLB this season with a 2.98 ERA, good for the 16th best mark in the league. He’s gone 7-5 on the season overall.

Though he has been good all season long, Peterson was untouchable in July, posting a 1.05 ERA and earning a 2-0 record in four starts, each of which lasted at least six innings and allowed no more than one run.

Carrasco, on the other hand, has struggled all year and quite frankly has not been a good pitcher since 2020 when he played for Cleveland. In ten appearances this season, Carrasco has posted an ERA of 6.18 and has pitched more than five innings just one time.

In two games since being traded to Atlanta from the Yankees, he has allowed 16 hits, 9 runs, and just seven strikeouts over 11 and two thirds innings pitched.

Recent Performance

Both teams have had a rough stretch since the All-Star break, with Atlanta going 9-15 and New York going 9-13, the third and seventh worst records in the MLB during that stretch.

Part of this can be attributed to the difficulty of their schedules out of the break, mostly facing teams that are in the playoff picture or the wild card race.

The Mets had lost 11 of their 12 games during a stretch between facing the Padres, Giants, Guardians, and Brewers before defeating the Braves last night.

The Braves had won just one of their first six series out of the break before defeating the Marlins in a five game series last week.

Home / Road Splits

Another factor that makes the Mets favorites at MLB betting sites is their dominance at home, going 39-21 in New York, good for the fourth best home record in the league.

They rank top ten in most runs scored per game (4.57) and fewest runs allowed per game (3.82) at home this season.

On the flip side, Atlanta has been one of the worst road teams in the league, going 21-38 away from home, the fourth worst road record in the MLB.

They rank bottom ten in both runs scored per game (4.24) and runs allowed per game (4.71) on the road.
