Back McIlroy Prior To The Tournament
To this point on the tour, McIlroy has been playing at his best already notching three wins over seven PGA tournaments that he’s participated in as well as another top-5 finish meaning four of his seven tournaments have seen top-5 finished.
Most notably, McIlroy won his first Masters in addition to winning the Players Championship and Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Looking back at previous Truist Open tournaments, McIlroy is the leader in all times wins at the tournament with four. He won his first in 2010, again in 2015, a third time in 2021, and is currently the defending champion in 2024. He also holds the best score at -21 which he posted in 2015. He won with -17 last year which is the third best outing in tournament history.
From an odds standpoint at PGA betting sites, McIlroy is no stranger to going in with short odds in any tournament as he’s done so all year. He’s had the second shortest odds in his last five tournaments every time behind Scottie Scheffler. That said, this marks his shortest odds point this year.
