New Look Seahawks Have Betting Edge Over Kansas City
  • The Seattle Seahawks have -170 odds to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in their preseason Week 2 matchup on Friday.
  • Seattle is likely to play the majority of their starters while Kansas City is undecided as to whether or not their starters will play.

SEATTLE – The nightcap for Friday’s preseason games will be between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field at 10 PM EST as both teams look for their first win of the preseason.

Chiefs vs Seahawks Game Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Chiefs +2.5 (+105) +145 O 39.5 (-110)
Seahawks -2.5 (-125) -170 U 39.5 (-110)

Legal sports betting favor the Seahawks by two and a half points against the Chiefs in Week 2 of the preseason.

Kansas City got off to an 0-1 start after losing in Week 1 while Seattle tied with the Raiders, making them 0-0-1.

How Much Will The Starters Play?

Head coach of the Seahawks Mike Macdonald has already confirmed that the majority of starters will play this week for Seattle, meaning Sam Darnold will see his first action as a member of his new team.

How much time the starters get remains to be seen, but any amount of time for the starters will certainly help their odds of winning this one.

As for Kansas City, head coach Andy Reid has been non-committal in his approach to their Week 2 matchup.

Patrick Mahomes and other starters did get limited playing time in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals and while Week 2 tends to be the most active of the preseason in terms of starters playing, it appears that Kansas City may buck the trend.

Preseason Performance

The Chiefs lost their preseason opener at Arizona 20-17, giving up the game winning field goal in the fourth quarter.

Despite the close score, Kansas City did not put up a great performance, totalling just 249 yards of offense, throwing two interceptions, and getting called for 11 penalties which resulted in 113 penalty yards.

They also allowed over 350 yards, but fortunately were able to create three turnovers to limit the damage.

The Seahawks ended in a 23-23 tie with the Las Vegas Raiders in their Week 1 matchup without any starters on the offensive side of the ball.

They were able to move the ball efficiently, totalling 368 yards of offense, 170 of which came on the ground, but struggled defensively, allowing 392 yards to the Raiders despite playing their backups for the majority of the game.

Betting Angle

While both teams struggled defensively in Week 1, it is apparent that Seattle’s offense is in better hands with Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe taking the majority of the snaps compared to Kansas City, who platoon Gardner Minshew, Bailey Zappe, and Chris Oladokun at QB.

With the starters expected to get a few drives early on, Seattle is well positioned to take an early lead and can salt away the game with their rushing attack which totalled 170 yards last week.

Taking Seattle to cover the 2.5 point spread with -125 odds seems like the right play at NFL betting sites.
