Royals, MLB ERA Leader Bubic Facing Yankees As Home Dogs

KANSAS CITY – The second game of three between the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium will take place Wednesday night at 7:40 PM EST on MLB Network.

Bubic Elite At Home

Bubic currently leads the MLB in ERA at 1.43 and holds a 5-3 record. Despite just a 2-2 record in five starts at home, Bubic’s ERA is still elite at 1.38, compared to his 1.48 ERA on the road. He ranks 23rd in the league in strikeout-to-walk ratio with 79 Ks and 22 walks.

Bubic did face the Yankees in New York back in April, allowing seven hits and three runs through five and a third innings, but has had just one game since then where he allowed more than one run.

His most recent outing came against the Detroit Tigers on June 1st where he went seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out nine batters.

Schmidt’s Road Struggles

Clarke Schmidt will pitch for the Yankees and his 2025 performance has left a lot to be desired. His ERA currently sits at 4.04 with a 2-3 record through nine starts.

His road splits are even worse, averaging just about five innings pitched through four outings with an ERA of 4.79. He faced the Royals in April, which was his first start of the season, and pitched five and two thirds innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out just two batters.

Since then, he has allowed at least two runs in six of his eight starts and has not pitched past the sixth inning in any game.

Though the Yankees boast a significantly better offensive attack than the Royals, the difference in pitching will be all the difference for tonight’s game and it can be seen in MLB betting sites reluctance to favor New York.
