BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino announced sports betting will commence on Friday. They will sponsor a ceremony and cutting of the ribbon Friday morning. Seneca Buffalo Creek Sports Lounge is the very first sports lounge opening for Seneca Corporations.

The New York State Gaming Commission accepted the NYS Senate’s proposal to officially legalize wagering on sports, in January. The State’s Gaming Commission then drafted and approved official rules and regulations for NY sportsbooks in June.

Tribal casinos were given the same ability to open retail sportsbooks in NY just as the state’s four commercial casinos were. Although, racing tracks, racinos, and off-track betting facilities were determined to need further legislation in order to authorize sports betting at their locations.

The Buffalo Creek Casino has added an in-person window to take bets as well as kiosk stations. Holly Gagnon, Seneca’s CEO, said to look out for in play betting because it will also be an option for bettors.
