SNF Odds List Cowboys As Slim Favorites Over Giants
  • Dallas is a 3-point favorite over New York, -105 at Bovada and -107 at BetOnline, up from -2.5 in May.
  • The total sits at 48 points, up half a point from the 47.5 the board opened with in May.
  • Dallas’ moneyline price has tightened to -165 at Bovada and -159 at BetOnline from an opening -130.
  • John Harbaugh makes his regular-season debut as New York’s head coach in the nationally televised opener.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Cowboys-Giants odds list Dallas as a 3-point favorite over New York in Sunday night’s Week 1 opener at MetLife Stadium. Dallas has -105 odds at Bovada and -107 at BetOnline to cover, up from -2.5 when the board opened in May.

The Line Since May

Dallas has firmed from a 2.5-point road favorite to 3 since the Week 1 opening lines posted in May, when Dallas was priced at -130 on the moneyline, New York at +110, and the total at 47.5. Bovada now has the Cowboys -3 at -105 and the Giants +3 at -115; BetOnline has Dallas -3 at -107 and New York +3 at -113.

The extra half-point matters at the margin, a 3-point Dallas win, enough to cover the May number outright, now only pushes the spread.

The moneyline moved further than the spread did. A $100 bet on Dallas at the May open profited about $77; the same bet profits about $61 at Bovada or $63 at BetOnline today, a materially shorter price for the same side. The total ticked up half a point as well, from 47.5 to 48, with each side of the number priced at or near -110 at both books.

Harbaugh’s Debut, Dart’s Return

Sunday’s game is the latest marquee assignment for betting on Sunday Night Football, NBC’s showcase window to open the NFL season, and it doubles as John Harbaugh’s regular-season debut as New York’s head coach. Because the Giants are the home team, it is also his first home game as New York’s coach.

Dak Prescott starts for Dallas against Jaxson Dart, who threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns while adding 32 rushing yards in New York’s 34-17 win over the Cowboys in last season’s finale, according to the Giants’ account of the rivalry.

That finale split last year’s series. Dallas had beaten New York 40-37 in overtime earlier in the season. It is the eighth time in the past 15 seasons the NFC East rivals have opened a season against one another.

The opener gives legal sports betting markets their first regular-season read on a hyped up Dallas offense against a Giants team starting a new coaching era. Kickoff is 8:20 p.m. Eastern at MetLife Stadium, broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
